WD is a nightmare. I'm having to completely re-buy all my gear every 5-8 levels in order to keep DPS up. DH allowed me to just replace teh weapons every 15 levels or so. Bleh.

You serious? What skills are you using. My WD does brutal dps even over area of affect!

Make sure you are using Soul Harvest as often as you can and I'd also recommend the passive that gives you extra intelligence with life globes temporarily.

When I get 5 souls and then pick up 5 health globes my int goes from around 1000 up to 2k and the damage is brutal :D

Got to level 56 on my Monk last night, about half way through Act 2 on Hell, finding it more and more frustrating. Kitted out in about level 50ish gear and unless something has sold by the time I get home I wont have any money for upgrades. How are people laying out their skills?

Think I have Fists of Thunder with Quickening, Crippling Wave with Tsunami is main attack skills. Then Blinding Flash with Faith in the Light, Breath of Heaven with Circle of Life, Mantra of Healing with Boon of Protection and finally Sweeping wind with something, dunno what. Sweeping wind is pretty pants to be honest and I will swap that out, but is there anything else I can do?

I used to think sweeping wind was awful before I reached level 60 but it is actually does some awesome continual damage to all enemies around you. If you get some life on hit stuff, then your health will just refill thanks to sweeping wind :)

Think I have about 25k health, 3k armor 3k dps, and it just drops like a stone if I'm up against anything plague/desecrator like, or chained/linked. Everything else I'm fine on really. Have life on hit on both weapons, not sure about armour, will have to check that out when I'm home.

I had the same issues until I saw a build someone posted on the official forums - it was an amazing moment!

skills:
crippling wave - concussion (left mb)
sweeping wind - balde storm (right mb)
breath of heaven - blazing wrath
serentity - peaceful repose
inner sanctuary - circle of protection
mantra of evasion - hard target

with resolve, seize the initiative and one with everything.

so you get mob damage reduction and aoe damage with the spirit builder, sweeping wind is awesome if you can keep it up, it melts white mobs. as an example i fought the first boss in act 4 hell with it on toe to toe, sweeping wind took out all the shadow things before they could touch me. granted it's pretty useless if you have to kite but it's great for loads of mobs.

you get the damage buff with BoH and blazing wrath, 3 second immunity and a heal with serentity. inner sanctuary is a funny one, sometimes useful, most times not. i have swapped it out for 7 sided strike and mystic ally but i've always gone back. mantra of evasion increases dodge, plus if you spam it you get an extra dodge change which can prove useful.

that set up got me through hell with ease tbh with pretty **** gear. admittedly now inferno is a different story but i'm not using the AH.

Anyone able to solo a 2 man diablo inferno for me?

I've tried so hard, and got so far... but in the end............. I die, every time. I just cant time those SS's perfectly all fight long.

Got to the point where I just want the achi to be done with it. Will pay XD

Your HP is more than enough for hell, increasing your armor and more importantly your resistance to all, will allow you to tank hits.

Check your attack speed and Life on hit number. take it you are 1 hand + shield?

Nope, have 2 one handers. Attack speed was I think something like 2.04 per sec, and life on hit something like 185. Total guesswork though as I'm at work. I think it's more resistance that's the issue, think I have something like 50 max on anything.

Yeah man I'm finding it super tedious. I do notice a huge DPS increase with the souls, obviously, but it's only temporary and i forget to re-do it sometimes, or getting 5 souls is a dangerous task in itself! (and it's no use on bosses :()

I yearn for my DH. Stupid server defaulting to US. I abhore having to start over because i cant use RMAH with my DH.

This was my original setup for Inferno Act I:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#aXgYik!ZUX!abacZc

Thunderclap skill invaluable for reaching mage type enemies that spawn more demons. Or those bugs on Act 2.

Blazing Wrath gives me additional Damage
Faith in the light, stuns all enemies around me, + additional damage. Stops bosses performing their special attacks.
Sweeping wind + constant additional damage.
mantra of conviction and the reason why using submission is I have read that this additional damage stacks.

So as you can see it's a very high damage build. Lots of skills giving additional percent to damage output.

But you can swap the mantra for Hard target, which gives me a 55% to dodge on Inferno Act I.

That dev Q&A thing posted a few pages did comment on melee vs ranged. The main thing he focused on was that when you fight a really powerful elite/champ, a ranged character can take off a big chunk of health before he gets killed while a melee character will probably just get squished after doing nothing, so you can easily beat it over time with the ranged but not the melee.

With hardcore you obviously can't play a glass cannon. You have to focus on surviving and when it comes to particularly evil combinations of abilities, the Monk/Barb have much more chance of overcoming it, at least to escape, which is why they seem to be the most popular (WD is by far the least popular).

Gonna offer my blacksmithing services on here, add me Brokkah#2761 if you want me to do combines. Mats and rates are below. Not sure how you want to ensure you get what you pay for as I dont have the capability to set up a stream but I'm sure others on here will vouch for my honesty if needs be. Happy to do as as many combines as you have mats.

Yes, I am making a small profit from this, but I'd suggest you add up how much all those plans are worth on the AH before judging me too harshly :p

I just don't see how to do inferno on a Barb other than to farm better gear... But it's harder to farm better gear when everything kills you >.> With my shouts and that I only have around 350res -.-

Its frustrating but if you hit around 600 resis all you'll cruise act 1. I had the same issue and again in acts 2 and 3 which required a lot more gearing up.

Been quite lucky with the AH in terms of buy resis all gear and keeping dps/hp up, don't think ive spent over 500k on any one item.

Try searching for items with only high (80+) vit/ (50+)resist all or only high str/resis all (filter to rare for extra "free" stats). They'll likely be cheaper than single pieces of gear that have all stats str/vit/resis all.

Hope that helps.

The staff is NPC food if you ask me - the boots however, they seem really nice for a monk. Not DH though as no movespeed means horrible kiting :(
