***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Oh well it was brief but fun, I have now reached the stage where I can post about it without wanting to smash the keyboard

The pub has it on CCTV and it has been passed to the police, same guy, waited until the goals and quietly took the bags and passed them to another guy who left, but we are not expecting much, and Im covered on my home insurance, but with a 200 quid excess which means that I probably won't bother,

Feel for you dude, I'm guessing you had no anti theft apps on, memo to self, new phone first app some anti theft or loss like Cerberus.

Wow! Have seen quite a few people complaining about scratches on their GS 3 screen now :(

And £80 to replace it!!!!!

This is why it is so important to use a screen protector IMO. £3 piece of plastic (which really has no effect on the overall quality of the screen [if applied correctly] except for the feel and greasy marks/fingerprints being shown more easily) as opposed to that option.
i agree.

that why i bought the invisibleSHIELD screen protector. i know it's a lot of money £14.99 just for a screen protector but it's the best one out there and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Screen protectors are awful. I want to enjoy my phone, not cover my screen in a film which changes the feel of it.

My friend received the flip cover for his SIII today. It's sublime, barely a millimetre thick and it adds a premium finish to the phone. I'd choose a flip cover over a screen protector any day.

Completely agree, and worst case scenario, £80 to sort it out is completely worth it anyway.

I've had loads of phones and I've yet to get even the tiniest scratch, and at times I've been a bit brutal with them, but I'm generally careful.

Will do, but how does that affect ringing the network and getting them to block the phone, or do I not bother contacting the network and do a bit of sleuthing myself and track down the culprit?
But that way, Im liable for any calls they make???

They only look awful if you do a real xxxxxx job of applying them and have no patience :p

This is what my 1S screen looks like with a HTC screen protector applied:

Obviously you won't be able to judge too much on those photos, but should get a rough idea.

Apart from the 2 air bubbles on the top left (which I could get rid of if I reapplied it again, but won't as knowing my luck it will come back with even more :p) and the cut out for the proximity sensor you wouldn't even realise if there was a a screen protector on, the touch sensitivity has also not been affected at all. I have shown my family/friends the mobile before and after and they couldn't even tell that there was any difference for those areas :p

I would choose a scratched screen over a flip cover (IMO they look awful) any day :p

EDIT:

I have never had any scratches on my mobile screens either, but rather not take the chance this time, especially as you read all these posts (on other forums to) where people get scratches without even knowing how and despite being very careful.

I have a screen protector on mine and I barely notice the difference in feel to the screen. I would rather have a protector than a scratched screen.

I got an Invisibleshield on mines, I was lazy and paid CPW to put it on. Don't really notice it to be honest.

I have the Rock case for the back that someone recommended here...it's really nice.

Do I or don't I invest in a screen protector...hmm....I've always been a no screen protector user tbh.

S2 survived a year of exploration in some of the darkest depths of the country and remained unscathed though, I'm just not convinced enough!

I took my perfectly placed sp off my Note about a week ago and love the feel and look, the flip cover I bought gives it pocket protection and I'm careful when using it, it's worth the risk and a sp isn't going to give any protection in a screen drop situation whereas my flip will.
