***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

My battery seems fine as well. I didnt use it much today (too busy) and it's at 82% after 12 hours on battery including 1.5 hours music playing. On normal days (browsing etc on top) it gets to about 50%.

Screen at 50% brightness
Powersaving Off
Wifi On all the time (not connected for 50% of time)
3G on for other 50%

Seems good here

Bit concerned about these UHS1 cards from Sandisk. I have a 32GB one. I will be annoyed if it b0rks :(

Might try your settings Richie, Also might swap my battery with the wife's and see how we get on. I simply couldn't use my S3 like Richie's (Normal Day) battery wouldn't last long enough :(

Got my PB on Monday but not had time to play with it much, Coming from an iPhone 4 I'm very impressed :)

I do have one niggle though - Battery power! How long is it supposed to last? I charged it up last night and at 10pm it was on 100% and 5pm today its on 26% I've got everything set up on powersave turned off GPS, Screen is on auto. I've spent about 30 mins surfing, received a few txt's and alerts. Not really used it much at all :( My iPhone had amazing battery life compared to this!

Any tips?

It's a common problem mine is the same, it eat's battery power while in standby from some reason, the way i got the battery to last was to turn off basically everything ie sync, mobile data and put into powersave, when i did this it hardly used the battery all night.

This is the problem when you become an early adopter you have to put up with all the bugs, till they sorted.

Their is a new firmware out which im downloading at the min, LF6 it's Asian but has english, gonna flash this see if the battery drain has been fixed.

I'm pretty certain you both have apps/services keeping your phone awake when it's supposed to be deep sleeping - you can find this out by getting CPU SPY off the market.

Any one know a good program to test sd cards with. Mine is having real problems playing videos and music but benching it shows no obvious issues.

Tried the same files on a 2gb card which works fine but on my 32gb Sandisk Ultra it stops after about 5 secs.

Not really settings TBH.

My Wifi is on all the time but it only connects at home so, when out, it's on 3G. I could run it down lower if I used it more but I am busy a lot recetly so don't get a chance.

I now have GTAIII on it so no doubt this will kill the battery :D

I agree with a couple of posts up - it sounds like something is not allowing the phone to deep sleep and using the power.... Run it for a day as normal and then post up the screenshots of the battery screen (including the one when you hit the graph)

Now that is nice :)

Sitting having my dinner just now and my phone goes. It is an unknown number not in my phonebook yet I notice that the S3 actually tells me where it is coming from due to the dialling code i.e. 01525 "xxxxxx" showed "Leighton Buzzard" on the screen :)

No idea how it does it but I quite like that :)

Deal I got:

£90 handset (£40 cashback)
£15.50 per month (24 months)

Total = £422

I can't understand why anyone would pay £500+ sim free when these sorts of offers are available on contract, where you can simply throw away the sim and use your own. I got my Galaxy Note the same way. If you want, just cancel the contract after a few months, and pay the remainder off in one go and it still works out much cheaper.

Where can you get it for £15.50 a month?

Affordable Mobiles.

It's down as £21.50 a month but £6 of that is the 500MB internet bolt on which you can cancel straight away by contacting o2 once you receive your handset. When I got my Galaxy Note previously, it came with a £3 internet bolt on (100MB) and I cancelled it on day 1, and was never charged a penny for it. I have already spoken to an o2 advisor who confirmed it can be cancelled straight away and I have the convo saved just incase.

So, you are paying £15.50 a month for 24 months, plus £90 upfront. The cashback is £40 through quidco and takes around 2-3 months.

S3 for £422 = bargain, especially since you can pay it off as quick or slowly as you choose with no interest. It is absolutely not worth forking out £500 when these sorts of offers are available. BTW mine has been shipped, I ordered it this afternoon. :) They have the white in stock but no blue for another month.

Thats because you have talkback enabled...it did the same with mine until I turned it off...nice gimmick but embarrassing in public lol.

It's in the settings then accessibility, if you want to turn it off that is.

Just used CPU spy and it shows 53% at 200MHz, 34% Deep Sleep and the rest between 500 and 1000MHz

Is 53% at 200MHz enough to drain my battery as quick as it as been doing and can I just kill all running Apps with one touch?

Personally I think it looks nice, quite like my pebble blue SGS3 that I got the other day...the home button sets off the colour nicely.

It's not something that would bother me either, but on the deal I got above they were honest enough to tell me they won't have any blue for at least 3-4 weeks. My wife has the white one already, so I would have chosen blue if they had it in stock just to have a different colour but oh well, can't complain for £420.

Edit: Don't need to buy another Zenis dock, can just use her white one. WIN WIN :P

How do I set a scrolling wallpaper on any of the launchers? When I choose my wallpaper, it forces me to crop it to the normal size, rather than letting me choose a widescreen wallpaper for scrolling.

Yeah I did my Note like that but I kept the sim, it works out at £28 a month on a £10 Giffgaff sim, defo the way to go, I picked up the tip here, so thanks to who ever gave me the idea:cool:

Ah i see. I had seen some horror stories on hotukdeals about bolt ons and people being charged e.t.c so didnt want the potential hassle.Does seem pretty good though. No good for me as i didnt want white at all and waiting another month would suck.

Bought it Sim free on an interest free credit card for 12 months and got a months contract for £20 (Sim 300 on three, £10 a month but with £100 cashback) so not too shabby either.

a screen shot would be better - plus a few of your battery stats page on android.

From your info I can't tell how long the phones been of charge - and how long its been in use. Though 53%@ 200MHz does seems very high.

I have a chat log saved with an o2 advisor where she has confirmed, buying this contract from a 3rd party website and cancelling the 500mb bolt on will reduce the contract by £6 to £15.50 a month. Plus I've done it before with my Note.

Was the Note also through Affordable Mobile. Cause I done the same thing with my current Nexus but got that directly with O2.

No, I got my Note directly through o2. I don't see how affordable mobiles have any involvement with your monthly bill since the contract is with o2, but it will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully I get it tomorrow so we'll see, I still have my Note so I'm quite happy to send this back if they try fobbing me off.
