WD warranty terms on Notebook drives

Hi guys,

After a HDD for my PS3 but wanted to check something on OcUK, it looks like they are saying the WD Scorpio Blues have 3 year warranty, but WD themselves mention that these drives only have 2 year warranty unless they are the retail kit...

Any chance of clarity? Obviously assuming its an error on OcUKs behalf, unless they are retail kits, but theyve decided to sell them as OEM products. Id like the longer warranty if possible!!!

Might aswell also check that the drive Im after is suitable for the PS3 Slim too? Presume the new 4k format wont make a difference to the PS3...

When did you purchase this drive? If it was purchased before Jan it would be 3 years, after then it would be 2 years.

Hi 5UB, its more what your website still shows for WD Cavair Blue notebook drives but it looks like youve changed it accordingly

Also the website is showing Seagate drives (2.5" and 3.5") with 2 or 3 years warranty when I thought these are all only 1 year now

Warranty on some drives at some point was mixed, the issue we have is seagate changed many SKUs but not others and untill you actually enter a serial number in you dont know.

All 2.5" should be set to 2 years now

You COULD install a 60GB Intel 520 SSD with a 5 year warranty if warranties are a key-point in your purchase!

Plus, Play Stations actually get the benefit from SSDs without killing it, unlike Microsoft's alternative system!
I can vouch for this, I've used a Corsair F60 in my PS3 for some time, and a few choice games (Dead Space Extraction, Agarest) have no load times at all once installed to the drive. The 120GB is a better choice if you play loads of games though.

I'm personally getting an Intel 520 for the warranty. I'm far too data intensive to get less.
