Up north.
I get paid via my bosses business account with Natwest, I aint been paid, and from what i read earliest will be monday. Im broke, and had a little shopping list for OCuk with some goodies in the region of 200 quid. Im so angry right now, best part is, I had a direct debit due yesterday that wasn't paid and I got charged by my bank. Natwest, such ******s.

Are people really so unprepared?

I got the text and thought nothing of it...

That said, the fact that the money I want is in my Savings account right now, rather than my current account is remarkably annoying...

Do we have an estimate of it coming back?

I wasn't planning on going out this weekend so i'm ok there, only problem is i have direct debits etc, and if my money doesn't go through soon i will soon be way over my overdraft limit.

Im with halifax, pass on my number to natwest and get em to text me when they break it again. I dont have the luxury of having savings as living literally week to week on my wages doesnt really support that. I do my best to get by and treat myself to stuff when i can, this was supposed to be my treat weekend.

Unprepared? So what am i to expect? banks to fail each week and keep money in a tin under my bed? I'l consult my crystal ball next time so i know when i wont get paid.

Ah wonderful. Well if my mortgage payment doesn't go out on Monday it's their problem (bank account and mortgage with natwest).

My balance has been showing 0 since yesterday. Went into a branch today and they said I could have up to £300 cash if I wanted. So I took some cash to cover me and will have to use the credit card for any big stuff. Hopefully it will be working by Monday or some bills are going to start bouncing.

I believe that they had the issue for most of the week. The issue appeared to be with incoming payents not being reflected in peoples accounts. My guess (and it is a guess) is that a change at the weekend resulted in a critical batch failure during the first subsequent overnight batch run (which would have been Monday night).

I would not have liked to be that support manager for the last few days.

Also, it seems that yesterday, accounts updated in late afternoon, and with longer opening hours tomorrow, you might be able to get cash out from a branch if needed...

Ive said it already. Im with halifax, I cant get my wages out of a Natwest branch can I. My account has nothing to do with Natwest, my wages from my work are handled by Natwest, and sent to my Halifax account.

I heard they deployed a new payment delivery system which corrupted the network.

To be honest I wouldn't like to be someone in their IT department at the moment! I suspect a number of heads are going to roll for what is essentially a pretty major failing.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

You shouldn't be running close to the bone at the end of each moth and should have saving if such a disaster (like the one outline) strikes.

I blame the consumerism ****fest that society has become.

On a side note I bet the IT guys at Natwest are in for a roasting.
