Who's weekend did Natwest ruin?

To be honest I wouldn't like to be someone in their IT department at the moment! I suspect a number of heads are going to roll for what is essentially a pretty major failing.

Yeah. Vast swathes of P45s are going to be issued. For the men on the floor and to their managers. This shouldn't happen to a mission critical system.

Whatever the error, as I dont bank with Natwest, I cant have/get any money at all. My wages are only handled by them and sent to my halifax account. Unless i go cap in hand to the local Natwest and ask for it.......Yeah that wont work either. Im powerless. Il be able to get charges i incur from direct debits not paid but hows that going to help me this weekend? Im rather angry, frustrated and just generally need a natwest employee infront of me so i can proceed to pull their head off.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

You shouldn't be running close to the bone at the end of each moth and should have saving if such a disaster (like the one outline) strikes.

I blame the consumerism ****fest that society has become.

On a side note I bet the IT guys at Natwest are in for a roasting.

Ooooh right, so its my fault? Sorry natwest, apologies, its my fault you failed and i didnt get paid. Honestly, people who have money/good jobs well payed etc etc, well done, im happy for you. But dont tell me im at fault, Im not.

I get paid weekly, not monthly. I live on the bread line, and have mouths to feed, sorry if my failings in saving cash doesnt meet your approval.

Go to boss, say "I need a sub in cash as you haven't paid my wages"

The lack of planning is your bosses, **** does happen, leaving things to the last minute and assuming nothing will ever go wrong with the banking system is a risk that sooner or later will bite you.

Hes probably got petty cash or relieve him of his wallet ;)

Didn't they make redundant a whole load of IT bods a few years ago and outsource it to india?

I might be thinking of another bank.

If not then I think this is a fantastic example of you get what you pay for*.

*Assuming cost was the reason for outsourcing abroad.

That would be pretty sweet.

All of the wages we paid this week including mine and my dads haven't gone out, we briefly saw the payments show up and now they have gone again, we have put money in the account and that hasn't showed up either.

Already had people ringing up asking where there wages are, as if people are so desperately unprepared, what would they do if they had a real problem lol, this coming from one of them who was quite happy to go off for two weeks with domestic stress and somehow managed to cope on £80 a week.

We have told all our suppliers we wont be making any payments until we can at least see whats happening with the account

"Im broke, and had a little shopping list for OCuk with some goodies in the region of 200 quid."

Hmm..

Finding out I haven't been paid... Time to get my rage face on.

Still okay finacially as there's nothing major coming out of the account for a few weeks. Should give them enough time to totally wreck everything and then start again from scratch.

My wages today to pay for it, sighface, i wonder why i started this thread.

Is it hard to understand that in this country there are actually people who struggle along with **** pay? Yep, thats me. If you read that post, this weekend was "treat yourself" weekend with today wages. I dont have savings as im in a rubbish job on rubbish money. Why im trying to justify myself i have no idea why. People who are saying i should be prepared, id love to know your yearly income and how it relates to mine.

While I do sympathise with the people who really do just have enough to live on, can't afford to save, and how this might affect them, your post shows that you obviously do have the option to save. £200 this week/month in fact.

Perhaps Natwest and RBS are completely insolvent. It may be the case they are in discussion with the government, and they are only prepared to make a statement once this matter has been consulted.

If I said this 5 years ago, you would think I was tin foil material. Especially given the billions in bonuses they were paying themselves.

Considering a bank in France is experiencing the same "outage", and that Europe is collapsing, my money is on the completely collapse of the banking industry in Europe.

Fiat money is nothing more than a pyramid scheme. Eventually the music stops, and you find out all the seats in the stadium are fake, and everyone is left standing and everyone is "out".

I logged in the other day and noticed that my Fixed rate isa had disappeared along with the sum of money in it :o I admit I did panic a bit but when in and was told they had issues and that was Wednesday.
It is showing now though luckily. Also as said "I'm broke and live on the breadline but had £200 I wanted to spend at OCUK" eer yeah thats broke alright. First world problems eh.
And as Haggis said, you can quite clearly save as you appear to have treat weekends where you blow £200. Maybe if you didn't spend all £200 in 1 weekend you wouldn't be on the 'breadline' the rest of the time. Jeeez

People like me can still call you a tin foiler.
Coincidences don't mean anything till proven.

needed to get 5k out to buy a car which is being delivered on Sunday, so rather than rely on online banking being back up by then rang up today to get it ready to take out in cash. Cue the point at which the woman on the other end of the phone refuses to believe the branch is open on a saturday. IT IS. Would have done it sooner but i've been on nights all week :(
