When you listen to music using headphones...

That's just swell, you can think I'm a silly muppet all you like.... I find it to be functional, but I'm not using the same type of headphones as you so it's not quite the same thing.

I don't think your a silly muppet, unless your name is kermit. I decided to post an equally silly comment from the other side of the fence :D

Yes but it causes ME issues by having to look at it! :p

Care, complain about it on OcUK to make you feel better.

I'm still bopping along to my tunes enjoying my day, completely oblivious to your intense emotional distress :D:p

This. I don't hide it on the way to work mainly because my shirt will be tucked in and there's nowhere sensible to get the cable out. Although in saying that, I usually put my phone on my jacket's inside pocket and put as much of the cable as I can in with it.

Out of your zipper and into your pocket.

Won't look weird at all... promise :D

I think people who don't do this look stupid.

Good job I don't care what you think then isn't it :D

My headphones don't fit nicely when I try to wear them under it since the thing that shortens the cable catches on the bottom of my coat... I guess he could be moved about though.

I run the cable under the back of my shirt, through my belt loops and then into the pocket my mp3 player is in. No annoying snagging with it like that :)

To shamelessly derail this thread slightly... How many of you have an MP3 player but don't use MP3s on it, yet if someone called it an MP3 player you'd not correct them?

Everything I have is in Ogg Vorbis, and it's still an MP3 player to me. :)

Yep, but the people holding the phone out in front of them as if it's a Geiger counter aren't multi task capable.

I'm failing to see the validity of this. For all anyone knows they're watching a movie on their phone, streaming tv, reading a book, browsing the news? Just because it's held out in front of them doesn't mean anything in terms of how moronic they are. If anything it says something about the person making the statement and their limited perception.

If they're holding it out in front of them because they're doing something else with it then that's fine - I'm not talking about them. If I was exchanging texts for example then I'd keep mine out of my pocket too.

Do remember it's not a serious thread so let's not get caught in an argument :)

Its probably because I use cheap in ear headphones or just have funny shaped ears but find if I tuck the cable under clothing it just keeps pulling them out of my ears. :(

Tucked out of sight is the best way to do it though I would say.

:p My only point to the various other posts was just because it's held out in front doesn't mean you can assume anything with any substantial certainty :o

I tuck the cable under my shirt, mainly because if i need to take them out for a minute or two i can leave the earbuds dangling off the front of my shirt instead of having to shove the cable in my pocket and tangling them up

When walking to and from work...I don't because it involves untucking/unbuttoning my shirt and then looping the cable around the buttons or whatever.

I don't have white earphone cables though so the cable isn't even noticed. Put earphones on, pull the bobbly thing up to my neck so the cable doesn't bounce about then put phone in top jacket pocket.

Simples.

I don't listen to portable music any other time because I drive for everything else not work related.

...and you're out and about wherever you're going, do you tuck the cable under your shirt/top/etc so it is hidden?

I think people who don't do this look stupid. And also surely the cable could get caught on something and you'd end up looking even more retarded as you try and untangle yourself from the person next to you in the tube?

I make a conscious effort to ensure all cables are hidden and just enough of isn't tucked into my jeans pocket so i can move my head around.

Comments?

The ONLY exception are people who are at the gym or running and have to carry their portable music player.

Nah, I only really use headphones when I'm on the train so it's just hassle to tuck it away. Plus I use my phone as my player so having the cable tucked mean I'm holding my phone near my crotch to reply to SMS/Facebook/Twitter.

Doing that sat on a train with a table in front of you could look like you were doing something else entirely.

My old Aigo 1GB MP3 player hasn't played MP3s in a long time but I still use it as a USB flash drive to transport files etc.

Too much effort to hide the cable away when I'm going to or from work normally as my shirt will be tucked in, it might well be hidden by a suit jacket if I'm wearing one that day though.

If I'm wearing a t-shirt or something that isn't tucked in then sure I'll put the cable down the front of my top so that it's kept out of the way.
