Piracy - unbelievable figures.

Personal insults just because someone has morals and decency? How mature

If a game has no demo and I'm worried it will be pants, I simply don't play it. Sure, I've been stung before (FC2), but that just makes me more cautious when buying future titles.

FC2 = Far Cry 2?

Your slating that now? Do you all have some secret coup to bloody kill me or something with this?

It was on a steam sale for about a tenner a good few weeks ago - I picked it up :)

Does it run well? Looks like you'd need some beastly specs, which is why it needs a bloody demo! -.-

It was ****, and you're **** for liking it!

Just kidding :p it just wasn't my kind of game in the end, and I paid >£30 at release :/

I've waited for reviews (from reputable sources, like RPS) before buying for most of my games since.

I paid £40 pre order on the 360 and got about 100 hours out of it, I don't know how you couldn't like it, it had solid FPS mechanics with beautiful sandbox mechanics, and some of the best graphics of its day. I think people slated it because of poor multiplayer.

Each to their own I guess. I personally found it pretty awful.

Thanks to EA and Ubisoft ive stopped buying any game on release, i dont pirate as i dont like the risks. After buying Dragon age 2 on release and then buying a settlers game to be told i have to be online all the time, i mad a vow to never buy a game on release. Ill wait for steam sales and even then ill be wary!

You make a good product without screwing over your legitimate customers and you will find you have higher sales and less piracy.

A lot of people would have pirated Crysis 2 for the benchmark potential, after the first game. Bet they were disappointed when they realised it was a port.

I've downloaded a few games that I already legally own just to avoid all of the DRM/spyware rubbish and other unnecessary bloatware that seem to get bundled in with PC games nowadays. I can't be the only one.

Two words that explain why people don't like Far Cry 2

Stupid Respawns....

I bought it in a steam sale, played maybe 10 hrs and parked it indefinately, why thought the respawn mechanic was a good idea is beyond me.

What respawn mechanic? The ones where enemies spawn from time to time when your traveling on the roads, or the fact when you scout somewhere and unlock it on your map, kill everybody and take everything, come back later and its manned again?

Neither one bothered me, if they weren't in the game you'd have very little to shoot at.

That's a personal insult?, wow i'd hate to have actually insult someone

You really don't think that's low to actually take the internet and computer away from a child just because he downloaded a bit of music or a single game. Also the old holy preaching, I used to pirate as a kid I've seen the error of my ways i'll take everything away from my kids if they do it :o

No the point is I will teach my kids why it isn't right to pirate and explain to them what will happen to them if they do it, and be very clear as to what is expected of them as they grow up. I have two kids and they understand about cost and saving up and the fact they can't have everything they want and that stealing it isn't the right thing to do even if you can do it and get away with it.

How many of you here would be proud to tell your family, work colleagues, bosses, teachers etc that you pirate and so on. Yeah exactly none, you can be a keyboard warrior any day of the week while hiding behind it but in the real world it's different. Just like how many of you have kids and if you do you are happy them just pirating everything as well.

Another thing with kids is you have to be hard but fair and at times this might seem unfair but is generally for their own good. Like not playing 18 rated games at 10 because it makes life easier or giving them free rain on the internet to pirate and watch porn as much as they like at 13 years old, being a parent is about making hard choices and bringing them up right, maybe you should go ask your parents opinion and see what they think.

And as to the preaching, who's preaching, you must be very young or immature to think that. It was a true reflection of how I feel in a debate about piracy and you should be mature enough to evaluate the points stated rather than revert to weak comments like preaching. Nothing you have posted shows why my opinion is wrong and incorrect and we should all just pirate to our hearts content because we can.

I mean now is your chance convert me to piracy again, you can even preach it to me.

Would love to know what Job you do, just about everyone I know has come into contact with piracy, even at the old place we used to live we had a police officer across the road who was friends with our family and he thrown a party once and had copied PS1 games. There's no shame in piracy, to the average person they just see it as saving some ££.

And I wouldn't be 'proud' to be a pirate but if someone asks how I obtained something, I would just say I pirated it because most people tend not to care.

Do what you want - if you act the way you type, your kids will hate you for being so draconian.

There is no black and white in the real world... only varying shades of greys - kids should be prepared for that, not entering the world thinking there is a definitive right and wrong.

I'll remember to quote that next time I rob the local supermarket.
