What should I wear to JSA meeting?

I respect you for that, but trust us on this one, a suit makes no difference. You will look and feel out of place on top of that. I can tell you are lucky enough not to have the misfortune of falling on hard times and have never signed on before.

They will spend five minutes on you - maximum. They want to process you and the fifteen guys behind you and they have no time for formalities. The suit just makes things awkward. They aren't there to help you find a job despite what the place may be called, that is your responsibility. They only act as the intermediate between you and the allowance you are given.

Fair point, I'm sure the process is as you describe and not something I am familiar with. I'd still wear suit for the initial meeting.

Rubbish. The Job centre couldn't give a hoot if you come in a suit or not.

If you read my posts perhaps you would understand that I consider it to be personal preference. I never said it was necessary but something that I'd personally do, whether people think it's strange or otherwise.

jeans, a string vest, a gold chain, mock leather driving gloves (Maybe just one glove for the nonce look), ug shoes (even if your a man) and a bicycle helmet

You've been anywhere near a job centre have you?

They call it an interview as a stupid exercise of trying to get people to turn up them. It's all fluff.

You'd turn up in a suit? You do realise the first person you meet never sees you again, and neither does the 2nd person nor the 3rd depending if you have extra stuff to sort out.

It's rare to see the same "advisor" weekly.

Good job wasting your suit in a smelly hole. :D

You must be very concious about what people think of you. Why would you care what people in the job centre think of you? Close friends and family fine, but the job centre?
Then why wear a suit in the first place? :D
As will it be from responses like this ;)
Not a single care was given when I posted that, and hasn't for the last 11 years that I've been posting here :p

this has probably been mentioned by now but make sure you DO sign on

if you dont the gap in your national insurance payments can affect your state pension in the future

joggy bottoms and a hoodie if you want to fit in.

when your signing on dont ask any questions just get in or get out or a chav needing a fix will stop ****** and blinding at you for holding up the queue
(actually happened to my wife one time when i was with her around 10-12 years ago , i told the guy to STFU and he grabbed a screwdriver out of his backpack and began to charge at me , i grabbed a chair ready to defend myself and he backed down.....)

i would like to think that everyone at the job centre would turn up in a suit but they must have worn through their only suit and rest of their clothes whilst vigorously looking for employment. atleast thats the only reason ive got for why they are wearing pyjama bottoms

Paddy and Mick went into the Jobcentre, still looking for work.
Paddy spots a vacancy and says "Hey Mick, dere's a good job here in the forestry business. It says 'Tree fellers wanted, good rates of pay'."
Mick replies "Ah well, 'tis a shame dere's only the two of us."

dont worry about what you wear.. when i went it was full of chavs in track suits :/ so just wear your normal and thats it

best is when you end up forced on one of those courses that big dave swears you dont get forced onto , where you arrive looking smart and the bloke next to you is in his fishing gear because he 'reckons' we will get away early because his mates and family did
