MBP 15" retina 3-4 weeks!!

Well... mine arrived a couple of days ago.

It's going back...

I love the screen, the hardware just isn't up to running it - this lag is unbearable :(

I have all updates etc...

Surprised someone who posted earlier doesn't notice it... maybe I'm just spoiled with fast, relatively lag-free, machines? :p

Ah well... hopefully the next iteration will be more up to the task.

I'd hang on for ML. There are reports of people on the dev previews of it saying that it's cured the problem entirely.
 
It's not what I want either after spending this much, but I wouldn't object to waiting ~3 weeks for a new version of the OS that'd fix the issue!
 
where is everyone reading about this lag and it's performance impact?

Also, where are you reading that it's fixed in ML, GeX?

From what I've been reading (Macforums + anand) - it doesn't completely fix the issues, but does have a positive effect.

With no timeframe for a *proper* fix... I'm not waiting til my opportunity to return under DSR has dissappeared. It's on it's way back.

If they do have a proper fix for this, I'll get another... once fixed.

I end up "beta" testing most of my PC hardware and the drivers that come with it... lol... I've wanted a MAC because they "just work"... this one doesn't.

I hope they do fix it... I love the screen.
 
Well ML is what, two weeks away? there's your timeframe. From using it currently I know the RMPB is as smooth as anything on it, not that I personally had issues before but the scrolling was noticeably improved on Safari. If you return it, you may as well wait for next years model.
I thought I was picky but jeez, those macrumour threads are unreal.

I think when you spend £2k on a laptop and it can't scroll a webpage without stuttering like an old S3 Virge DX than it's 100% OK to be picky!!
 
Yup - I normally put up with silly little annoyances & wait for fixes.

For such basic functionality not to work properly out of the box... if ML really does *completely* fix the issues... then they should have delayed the hardware launch IMO.

2 weeks is too long for DSR - so I'm glad mine's going back for now, I may regret it - but I'll be patient for once.
 
can any one shed light on when cash is actually removed from your account. ordered on the 19th. they seemed to take some money.. o_0 but not all of it. I just want to make sure there's actually cash in my account when it comes to shipping so they send me the thing and dont get any more delays
 
They pre-auth the transaction, so it'll show on the card as a Pending Transaction - you'll be actually billed when it ships

Either people are exagerrating then or I got one that is freakishly ok, along with a few other people :confused: Mine is total base spec. The ML update seems to change what drives scrolling completely and so gives it that artificial smoothness but I didn't find it bad before.

I couldn't stand it.

Don't get me wrong... it's not a massive issue... it's just a frustrating one & certainly too frustrating for me to live with when you consider the price.

If there was a confirmed 100% fix on the horizon, I would have been more patient. As it is at the minute, I'm playing safe and returning... I may end up re-ordering in a month... but I'm going to wait and see or wait for the (Haswell?) refresh next year.
 
I'd say wait for the refresh then really as I imagine ML is as confirmed as it will get until it can brute force it maybe next refresh.

am i being a bit of a retard here? but i couldn't see anything ion that video that would warrant me returning it.
