I agree with the point that the media are doing quite a lot to propagate the idea that we need to be afraid of the world we live in, despite a different reality. Police corruption was rife in the 50s, but everyone thinks of it as this golden age where your local constable kept the peace and you could trust your neighbour. In fact, perception has more to do with what we see on tv than what we see in real life.
Fear of crime is disproportionate to crime statistics. Doesn't mean crime isn't real, just that it isn't lurking around a corner waiting to put cigarettes out on your nipples.

trust nobody! when the politicians, mp's, councillors are corrupt then this will obviously ripple into the police f"a"rce. greed fuels nothing but violent crime and a corrupt society. Now that every major religion is being shoved into a corner and demonised their moral standards are also being forgotten as Athiasm and it's flakey and constant changing moral values are infecting us all.
What ever happened to the Britian of the 50's? People were kind, curtieous, men were gentlemen and women were ladies. Forward 50 years later there are very few gentleman and ladies. A kid would rather slam a door in an old ladies face than keep it held open for her.
Society and civillization is going down the pan until Britian starts waking up and re-instating and teaching those Christian values which Jesus tought you all thousands of years ago.

Don't be ignorant! About 40 years ago people could leave the door open without people stealing things or been affraid of been beaten up!
Given the level of violence inflicted on this poor woman during the robbery, it seems to me that the violence itself was their primary motivation.
I'm certain that two fully grown men would be able to rob a lone 50 year old woman without the use of such a prolonged attack.

parents should be given the rights to discipline and hit their kids without fear of being locked up, teach these scrotes a lesson from an early age, not when they grow up and it's too late to teach them a lesson.

The problem I have with this "idea" is that those children are problem children are much more likely to have parents that are only to happy to resort to physical discipline.
He also pointed out the ethnicity of the white man. It is in no form racist or prejudice, simply stating observations clearly made by the woman taking the beating and obviouslly would have said the same thing to the police.

Why rely on education alone? Parents are failing in THEIR responsibilities because they are too busy perusing careers and the social structure of their families are failing.

Meanwhile back in the real world there is an increasingly large minority of people who have been ruined by the sense of entitlement bred from being born into and raised on benefits alone, accompanied by a lack of respect, an anti-authoritarian attitude and wanting to appear that they are in fact worth something and have money.
Sad but true.
It doesn't help that we don't deter crime in any way which could even remotely be considered effective. We have had 13 years of a government who thinks that the thickest kids should be allowed to bring down the brightest kids as it is their absurd and ill found belief that selective education is the devil.
I can't help but feel that our apparent mission to be the most multicultural society on earth isn't helping, but I suppose that makes me racist
