Person isn't paying on ebay

I had a bidder that wouldn't pay. So I file non-paying bidder claim. He finally pays 4 hours before the deadline. So I send him the item.

Low and behold, a week after sending the item, I get a message on ebay saying he hasn't received the item and will probably open a dispute with PayPal. Complete B/S but that's ebay for you.

The lesson here is to send it with signed for delivery. I never send without a signature required anymore purely because of ebayers doing this.

Was only a low value bit of laptop memory. I don't really care refunding him, just the principle of it, and that I suspected he would probably do it.

You report the item as unpaid, relist it, and Ebay should refund any fees on it.

Ebay's 'contractual terms' of all sales are final are not legal in the UK, everyone has a right to change their mind and not pay for an item before the order is completed.

I once had an item listed on Ebay as 'paypal only, no cash in hand'. Some moron bids on it and messages me 'Hi, is it ok to pick this item up? I only live in the next city to you'. I reply 'no dont worry, I will post it for the amount you bid' and accepted the offer.

Then a ****storm commences because the person didnt have any money in his paypal account and he was only willing to pay for it with cash on collection .... seriously? Didnt even read the advert or Ebays T+Cs, and places bids on ebay while only willing to pay cash on collection.

Simply reported him, exchanged a few angry emails at the derp and relisted the item.

Trouble is, if you sell a large volume, you'll be really out of pocket doing this, unless you pass the cost to the buyer at which point, you'll lose some sales.

As i've already said in this thread, i've sent out over 2000 items in 18 months with only 1 problem. This was a guy who claimed the item didn't arrive, he was doing it to multiple sellers and within a few weeks of us contacting each other and reporting him, he was removed from ebay.

I'm sick of ebay problem threads and people over-reacting to minor problems. Some of the threads are a legit big deal but most of them are just people who are immature, impatient and don't understand the site they are using.

You pay a modest price to list an item which is immediately visible to millions of people, simply isn't anywhere else you could do this in an auction format. The fee's are creeping up but it's a necessary evil.

As for people who don't pay straight away, many of them have real life issues that mean they can't get straight to the PC, it happens, simple as that.

To the OP, why have you avoided detailing the item you're selling and price again and again, is it a case of not wanting to be ridiculed by the OCUK masses because you're possibly over-reacting as most people do.

Sorry for the rant, i'm just sick of people moaning about things which really have little consequence in life.

Simply a privacy issue and the lack of a need to tell you. I find it quite hilarious that this forum instantly assume that I sold it a mere 5 minutes ago and it's only worth £5. After those accusations I suddenly felt no need to vindicate myself.

I'm just genuinely curious what the item/cost is that would make you even consider going down the CCJ route

It needn't be an issue at all. You don't have to say exactly what you sold and how much to the nearest penny. "I sold a computer part/electrical equipment/motor/etc etc for £5/£50/£500/etc etc". At least that way people will be able to formulate a response knowing some KEY FACTS.

Also, quite how you are not going to get anyway near what the item is worth if you relist it suggests it isn't actually worth anything like you think it is!

Finally having my first problem on ebay. This clown bought my MB on Sunday for £45 and still hadn't paid by Tuesday, so I messaged him and he said he would pay me on Thursday when he gets paid. He still hasn't paid, so I messaged him again and he said he didn't pay since he didn't receive the money he thought he would - no mention of when he will actually pay me or anything. Why the hell do people bid on things when they have no money?! I could have 2nd chanced it to the guy before him for £1 less (may still try this). I looked at this fool's history and he has a few "AVOID, LIAR doesn't pay!" type comments.

Why did they do away with negative feedback on ebay?? People have to write "NEGATIVE" now. So stupid!

Ebay claimed they did away with a seller being able to neg a buyer because "Some sellers where actively holding products to ransom until the buyer gave them positive feedback"

Which for me is nonsense. If a seller did that to me, I'd report it and get my money back to go elsewhere.

Apply for a CCJ and let us know how it turns out, and how much of your time/resources are spent in actually getting anywhere.
I wouldn't do this myself but you seem set on ignoring any reasonable advice... so yea do it.

Agreed, that is utter rubbish. People can just report the dodgy sellers, the feedback system should be an honest representation of buyer/seller behaviour.

Relist as BIN. That way nobody can buy without paying.

Don't really see why people don't just do this anyway, auction format is slightly cheaper because you have to run the risk of dealing with non-paying **** heads.
