Currently on the sick at work and find myself having too much time, started watching a few series to cure my bordem with my last being game of thrones, with season 3 not being aired untill april it leaves a long time to wait and I want to start on another series. I havnt watched many series in my life, Those only being Band of Brothers, Lost, Alcatraz(:(), Game of Thrones and Vampire Diaries(which im starting to get bored of due to taking a more twilight aproach).

Dexter, Justified and Breaking bad seem to be the most talked about shows, But I only have the pennies for one at the minute. Out of the 3, which would you recomend to watch first?

Dexter and Breaking Bad can be streamed from Netflix (probably inside the 1 month trial even) saving some money there.

Dexter is probably the better of those shows but all 3 of those while having a big initial impact I got bored of pretty quickly and didn't finish season 2 for any of them.

If you liked Vampire Diaries then you will probably like True Blood better although it does start to become a bit twilight after season 2, also you might find Revenge interesting if you like Vampire Diaries, while not about vampires it has a similiar kinda style but more edgy.

Oh and if your stuck for something to watch and never seen it firefly is a pretty decent way to kill some time.

I haven't seen Justified or Breaking Bad, but I can very much recommend Dexter. Season one was great, as was two, three was a struggle, four was incredibly good, five ok, and now part way through season 6! :)

Now you've got me wondering if I should check out season 4 of Dexter - I really liked the 1st season but 2 was really watered down and I couldn't even face watching season 3.

Dexter was my initial buy but after reading reviews a lot said they get pretty repetative and abit stupid that he never manages to get caught, upon reading reviews I seen a lot on Justified, after watching the trailers it seems to be based on the title that his kills are always justified and done in a western quick draw style. Also in the background was a lot of talks on Breaking Bad but the trailers dont seem to intres me, but I'd assume they will be a good watch since everyone talks to high of it.

I like series with a storyline, I dont suppose any of these are just one episode storys or are they all connected with a main storyline? I enjoyed watching Lie to me but after about 5 episodes it got abit boring that there wasnt any real big story to it in terms of throughout the series.

None of them have a storyline like say Lost - if you want that I'd probably say try Battlestar Galactica (first one that comes to mind that had a strong running storyline).

Dexter by a long way although Breaking Bad and Justified are fantastic.

The only weak season for Dexter is S3, I almost gave up after a few episodes but persevere.

S4 of Dexter is probably one of the best seasons of any TV show in recent history, absolutely perfect.

Breaking Bad is one of the best TV shows ever written. Dexter is good for a little while, but it's rife with annoying and one dimensional supporting characters and increasingly ridiculous storylines.

I've not seen Justified yet but if it's better than Breaking Bad I'll eat my hair.

Justified and breaking bad are amongst the best tv shows ever. Dexter starts off well but gets very very repetitive and incredibly improbable.

Breaking Bad is in a different league to Dexter in terms of sheer quality. It is by far and away the best thing on TV at present.

Breaking Bad to me is like The Wire in that everyones like "its the best tv show ever" but I find it to be pretty average, watchable but nothing grabs me and makes me impatient to watch the next episode.

Ahh, the wire. That was another choice too since ive venerally had good things from hbo series but i read its a slow start and you have to persevere with the first series so that was out the window straight away. Dont think you guys have helped much but from the sounds of it breaking bad seems the most reasonable choice to start with, still havnt taken a free netflix trial yet so i guess i could steam it on the console to start with and give dexter a go too while i have it
