Better safe than sorry, I had some RAM error on me after 7+ hours....
True enough but I find Windows testing more telling for instability, LinX with the All Memory option is particularly good for stressing the memory and memory controller.

because i thought it was quad channel and x58 is triple channel only?
i could do what you said with 12gb ram but keep the odd 1 stick for when i update motherboard.
People tend to run it for 24 hours to be 100% sure, but I just run it for the duration I'm at work, 10-12 hours etc.
Seems quite excessive really, I'd personally run it for less and then do some Prime95 Blend / LinX All Memory from within Windows.
I run for a couple of passes. Generally speaking IBT on Maximum will show me any instability.
Well I just got these through the door

The Arctic RC RAM Cooler does fit the Samsung Green MV-3V4G3D/US
I know people say you don't need to cool these, but at the speed and voltage I'm running they was getting toasty, especially the ones that are not getting as much air flow.
1) these look nice (stock ram looks ****)
2) it does cool and they are getting warm under load
3) they don't cost much and help when running high speeds and volts.
After some advice - just been suggested to put my Samsung Green RAM at 1.65V to achieve 1866MHz on 9-9-10-28 (2). Thought I'd ask here as I remember reading >1.5V was not good?
I have an i7 3770K OC'd to 4.4GHz with 16Gb Green RAM
Cheers Rossi~ It is Ivy Bridge so do you think I should try the timings you suggested and your voltage or are the timings and voltage specific to individual systems?
One other thing, this 1T etc, in my BIOS I don't get the option to select a letter.... why is this? Does it matter?

Thanks for your reply 8 pack.
It is 2X4 gb.
Well my system wasnt IBT stable at max setting, and what a effort to get it stable!
So now i have the RAM the same, with 1.55v (i set 1.5 in the bios but HW monitor shows 1.55)
However to get stable i had to increase my vcore to 1.4 (CPU 4.6ghz), underload HW monitor read this as 1.37.
My core temps are max 83, with package temp max 87! Too much?
I was running with a vcore of 1.36 for ages and had no probs until i tried this ram, still, happy its 100% stable
No dont use the same settings as Rossi, he is on X79 your on Ivy Z77???. What board you using ?? with Ivy 2400 is easy although it depends on the motherboard.
8 Pack - I have an Asus P8Z77 V MB with an 17 3770K.
If you have any advice I'd much appreciate it. I tried Rossi's suggestion of 11,11,11,24,1T @ 1.55v but don't think it worked. After rebooting the PC stayed hanging for about 30 seconds, had to hit the reset button a couple of times to reboot. I can only assume this was down to instability?
So I changed back to the original suggestion made to me for 1866MHz of 9-9-10-28 [email protected], but made the mistake of entering 9-9-10-24 2 @1.65v. Ran memtest and it passed.
I have no idea what the difference between my mistake and intention was other than it worked!
Advice appreciated - Really think I should do some hardcore reading on this subject as going in blind could be a bit dumb.....
