Steam Summer Sale: What's on your list?

I love how people seem to think they're entitled to it.
Not just that, watch all the bitching and moaning that goes on during the sale, makes me laugh every time and I suspect it's only going to be worse next sale now that Valve have had the cheek to make people wait ;).

Indeed,"Game X is only discounted by 75% Valve?!? **** YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!"

Yep, or the ever popular **** you Valve, there's nothing I want (forgetting that this is often caused by picking up the titles you're interested in at a heavy discount during the previous sales).

We're an odd bunch gamers, I don't know any other group where the sense of entitlement and lack of appreciation is so strong.

Bound to be a sale, world wide recession, poor sales of games in general. They make a mint with these sales so why wouldn't they have one.

They could be testing to see if not holding a sale makes them more money through people caving and buying games for full price instead of 80% off in the summer sale.

I will never buy any game from Steam when priced at their stupid "RRP" prices.

Because Valve are one of the few companies who seem to think beyond the 'give us lots of money' mentality. I'm not saying that's not their end goal, but they're not afraid to experiment with sales models.

Given their past record, they could be up to anything.

That's not Valves fault, the pricing is set by the publisher, hence the reason new release digital downloads cost more than ordering a physical copy from an online store... or even Game for that matter.

Well, just to stop others getting their hopes up, I'm definitely winning the 'every game on steam' prize this year, so if everyone can not bother entering that would be sweet. kthx.

Ok thanks for letting us know, thought it would be mine this time :(

This is not how "testing" is done.

They would risk too much with doing such market research, the sale is definitely happening, Valve has always talked about their sales as a financial success.

Contrary to the belief, you don't need an 80% discount of the game's price to sell it in numbers. Sometimes a 10% will sway 2 times as many gamers to get it, just because the game is discounted and you know it won't be cheaper in a while.

On another note, these sales encourage me to spend 10x the amount I would normally spend on games. Valve makes money of each sale, everyone benefits.
