I have a budget of around 5k-7K and i am looking for something fun, but usable every day.

Mileage wise i do between 5-7k a year so nothing massive.

Ideally i would like something that fits the following:

Up to 8 years old
4-5 Door Preferred but not required
200Bhp+
4 seats (but will consider 2 seater suggestions)
Reasonable MPG but (nothing crazy low like 20mpg, ideally 30 combined)
Mileage, prefer nothing more then 80k
Good level spec, air con is a must, wouldnt mind full leather, and sat nav.
Manual prefered, good flappy paddle shift acceptable.
servicing costs under £300 per year

If you can think of something worth looking at just the make and model and spec level will be enough for me to do some searching myself, i can just never think of something that would fit the bill

Under £300 a year servicing costs, does this include repairs etc as well or just scheduled services?

If so then you need to do some expectation management because not many 00bhp+ £7k cars are going to be cheap to service and never go wrong.

Maybe some sort of Honda?

You could get a FN2 Civic Type R

There's no leather, but all the other kit. Servicing is just over £300 a year, but there's the 'big one' every 25k which is £400. That service requirement is extremely low and sees like a difficult point to stick to when you factor in Insurance and consumables like Tyres. Honda's are cheaper to service than the competition but much more to insure!

Cheaper to service at £300 a year and then £400 at 25k???

My Focus ST had a major service at 3 years/37500miles and was £300 from a main Ford Dealer...

I'm going off what the Honda dealer lists, so there is room for manouver. Are you saying a turbo charged v5 is cheaper to service than a n/a 4pot?

Apparently if it's £300 a year through Honda and £400 for the 'big one'.

My 5 pot turbo was only £300 for the 'big one', not sure what an annual one is. Will ask on STOC and get back to you. But currently it's going to be cheaper than £300!!!

EDIT: I actually only paid £260 for my "Big One" with Ford Dealer too, didn't need replacement air filter so they knocked £40 off

the £300 is purely for normal servicing, and does not include things like tyres, or miscilanious repairs, also base this on the condition that if i need a service every 10k then every other year for me would be an oil and filter only ;)

Insurance shouldnt be an issue, i am the right side of 25 with plenty of years no claims :)

Taken from STOC
Service 1 - 12k/1 year - £155.00 inc vat - Includes Std Ford ETIS Checks + CAIS inspection/clean
Service 2 (with plugs) - 24k/2 year - £275.00 inc vat - Includes Std Ford ETIS Checks + RS spark plug replacement/upgrade & brake fluid change
Service 3 (with plugs) - 36k/3 year - £280.00 inc vat - Includes Std Ford ETIS Checks + RS spark plug replacement/upgrade & Coolant change
Service 4 - 48k/4 year - £209.00 inc vat - Includes Std Ford ETIS Checks + brake fluid change

Servicing from Honda themselves is not cheap - but there are plenty of specialists around that will do the work for significantly less. My diesel's major service cost me in the region of £250 and the guy was brilliant.

But the same can be said for it's "rivals". So to claim that the Type R is "cheaper to service than the competition" is an invalid statement...

I dont get why you'd have a tight servicing budget but be not bothered about repairs.

Surely a car with servicing at just £200 a year but average repairs at £600 is no better than one with servicing at £400 a year but average repairs of £400..

Surely you have an annual amount you are happy to spend on cars. Whether this is made up of 70% servicing 20% repairs and 10% tyres or 30% tyres 60% repairs and 10% servicing or whatever is surely totally irrelevent?
