Providing the person providing the services is there by their own accord then there is nothing wrong with it.
There isn't a single, reasonable, argument that counters this.
Well, the first part is pretty key isn't it.
A women being in severe poverty should be protected from exploitation, drugs (regardless of the ill-informed opinion of a few in here) is a completely different scenario.
Prostitution is illegal is most cases in an attempt to reduce exploitation of girls from very poor families.
No perfect solution exists (As it will continue) but I don't think as a society we should give the green light for people to freely exploit poor girls.
I'm fully expecting the old "I know a middle class girl who works as a prostitute argument" - but that's not the point, I'm talking about statistical averages - in most cases the prostitute is a poor women, selling her body to a rich man.
Something about that exchange doesn't sit right & in my view is just another form of exploitation of the poor.
IF - now, this is pretty key - we had no relative poverty, everybody had an equal start in life, equal access to a high standard of education & an equally good upbringing then I'd support it (as the exploitation argument would disappear).
Those in favour, then I'd like to pose a counter argument.
Would it be acceptable just to go to poverty stricken Africa & offer food for sex from starving women? - as the exact same principle applies in the capitalist west.
The fact it will continue is meaningless, paedophilia will continue also - but that doesn't mean we should legalise it.
Children & women in poverty are two groups who are vulnerable to exploitation.
