Battlefield 3 thread - Server details in opening post -

Haven't played BF3 for a few months due to work but had my first round last night.

I've noticed that there is now a 'Premium' Version, what is this?

also is the 'Close Quarters' expansion pack worth purchasing?

Thanks

On another note, was playing on a rush server last night and we were defending and dominating the enemy.

We were all accused of been lame campers. I mean really? What else are you meant to do when defending on Metro rush? Charge the attackers and die so they can have the Mcoms?

I think this is one of the most beautiful games ever, got my new rig and running this at 2560x1600 with everything on Ultra/Top settings and it is so so beautiful.

Don't know if it's because I'm getting older or my settings aren't quite right but playing CQ Gun Master I completely fail at aiming the first pistol I'm all over the place, and when it gets on to the shotguns good lord, I'm ripping the scenery apart but barely managing to actually hit a player!

Another question, what happens if you already purchased Battlefield and you want the extra features of premium, do you have to stump up a further £39.99?

In my experience, "Camper" is a catch all phrase used by those who consider themselves some kind of elite pro player, but yet get annoyed when someone who has the good sense to take cover and shoot them back. If you're as good at the game as you think you are, surely shooting someone who isn't moving isn't all that hard? Especially given all the aids the game supplies, like 3D spotting, extreme scope glint and tracer rounds that show you where they are shooting from.

Just ignore them and carry on. It's the most overused and ridiculous whine in the FPS community and it get shouted at anyone who dares to stand still for more than 15 seconds. Especially amusing when people have a go at snipers and machine gunners for 'camping' - what on Earth did you expect?

Stop camping noob!

Would you still lower the graphics if you were playing single player, in this or any other game, just out of interest?

For BF 3 even if I had a card more than capable of maxing the game out, yup I would lower the settings to a bit of medium and high instead of ultra.

As for other games, it depends entirely on the game i.e. crysis and crysis 2 I play on max (or as high as I can anyway :p), same for mafia 2 and the likes of Batman Arkham city (I know this game has snow falling throughout, which falls rather heavily sometimes, but for me it isn't distracting and IMO is beautifully done, the way it lands on Batman's cape and slowly melts :D) and the same for Max Payne 3 etc. as they look outstanding without having all this dust, papers, leaves etc. floating all over the place like in BF 3 as well as looking like someone has smeared grease over your screen :p. There are other games that are similar but BF 3 is the only one where it has been an issue in both SP and MP.

Sure it might look more realistic and pretty in some ways, but for me it is annoying.

I guess you could say I am more a fan of "clean" looking graphics.

I always keep the sound setting to max though, nothing better than the sounds of games especially for BF 3, it really immerses you into the game.

I always start playing the game on the highest settings (except for motion blur, can't stand it) and then work my way down to what I think looks the best and to get at least an average of about 40FPS.

When I was a bit younger, I was obsessed with having the game on the highest possible settings for graphics, but now, I couldn't really care less as long as it looks decent enough and runs smoothly, gameplay>graphics

So you're saying that even if you had a rig that could run at full ultra, you would still turn it down?

On my 680sli setup I can get 60fps constant at 2560 x 1440 with all on ultra and would not want to turn any settings down, I like to play at full.

Yup, personal preference :)

I wouldn't keep playing with everything on low now, just a mix of medium and high settings and the odd setting on ultra perhaps.

I've been running mine on ultra pretty much all the time since I started playing BF3 on pc, tried high for a few days but switched back again, I have heard that things (enemies) are harder to see on max settings or whatever but honestly I never had that problem. With that said, I do have the odd awareness fail problem every now and again :p

Having given up on bf3 for quite a while i reloaded it and bought the cq content- and loving it!
Being a self confessed bf3 hater, with it's many problems i thought i'd give it another chance and i'm glad i did.

So where do I get the latest injector thingamimob?

For FXAA Injector you'll need this: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=22186286&postcount=60249 EDIT: extract to same folder as BF3.exe, usually in c:\program files (x86)\origin games\battlefield 3

and this if you want some custom settings (a bit oversaturated tbh): http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=22186332&postcount=60252

and this if you use MSI Afterburner OSD: http://gsngaming.com/topic/4047-msi...-fxaa-injector/page__view__findpost__p__23117

BAN! BURN HIM! :D

Build a bridge out of him!
