***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Quick question about insurance on the Galaxy S III, what are people paying monthly for the insurance ??

Im have always been with O2, previously paying £6 per month insurance, now since the upgrade from HTC Desire HD to the Samsung Galaxy III they want to hike up the insurance cost too, so now the insurance is £10.00 as apposed to £6.00, small change i know, but i just don't understand the hike, same can be said for any insurance i guess....

I was informed that the Galaxy III is a premium phone, but so was my HTC DHD 18 months ago, the insurance was only £6.00 :)

CPW also want to charge £10.00 per month, what is everyone else paying on the Galaxy III per month for insurance just as a comparison ?

£6 w/ £25 excess for Orange Care. They have higher tiers but only for the iPhone I think.

Do you have a Plus/Premium/Whatever bank account? Most come with decent phone and travel insurance these days and cost the same or less than phone insurance alone. If Orange Care wasn't so good (no fuss, next day replacements, even delivered on a Sunday) that's what I'd probably do.

Reports for new firmware include:

Redraw issue fixed
No separate browser brightness
New clock widget
Brightness in notification area

Possibly more....

I like the separate brightness in browser - sigh - all they had to do is have an option to link it to system brightness if you want that - not take away the damn feature.

Glad they fixed the redraw issue.

should be getting my s3 delivered tomorrow :)
i phoned voda to get a data package added to my phone contract and got 500mb per month added for free :) so..
£416.95 for the phone + £6.49 p/m for 600 mins, unlimited texts + 500mb

EDIT: i must add.. at first they said the only way they could add data is if i upgraded my price plan and it would work out to £10 extra every month... i told them i wasnt happy with that and that id have to go elsewhere.. "hold the line plz sir".. "ok we'l add 500mb p/m for free" :)

Thanks for the advise pal, seems like O2 are wanting to 'cash-in' with the price hike if Orange are still doing £6pm insurance, which is what O2 used to charge, but have now upped it to £10pm.

I shall keep shopping around :)

Well even though mine got the OTA update it fails to install.

If you are rooted then you need to use Kies to update then re-root.

Might sound daft but does my phone have to be unlocked to install the new stockrom? currently locked to THREE.

If you are carrier locked then you might not get this update until the network releases their version

Actually it's easier to buy Mobile Odin and flash everything .tar/md5 related using that. Flashing ROMs using Mobile Odin also keeps root and you can selectively flash certain things from new ROM files etc.
