***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Thanks for the advise pal, seems like O2 are wanting to 'cash-in' with the price hike if Orange are still doing £6pm insurance, which is what O2 used to charge, but have now upped it to £10pm.

I shall keep shopping around :)

Look carefully at terms and research the company. Some have really high excess charges and lots of exclusions. MoneySavingExpert (both site and forums) may prove helpful.

Actually it's easier to buy Mobile Odin and flash everything .tar/md5 related using that. Flashing ROMs using Mobile Odin also keeps root and you can selectively flash certain things from new ROM files etc.

Not worth it for me, only use the stock updates, and root isnt hard to get back, literally 2 mins to do. I have yet to be interested in any roms for the s3. The only mod i have applied is the high bit rate camera.

just wondering brucey034 whether you had got your samsung 40" es8000 from three yet? i had a letter through saying i won aswell from preordering the s3. but had no delivery yet.

They still haven't fixed the poor audio recording for camcorder. Nice update though, lots of things fixed and neat animations added in various parts of the GUI that were not there on other firmwares.

What do I do with this on a none rooted phone to install it please? :o

Download Odin on your PC.
Make sure Samsung Kies drivers are installed on your PC.
Open Odin, click PDA, locate the MD5 file which you just downloaded.
Switch your S3 off.
Hold Vol down, Home and power button and phone will start up, press Vol up to put it in download mode.
Connect phone to PC.
Click START to flash.

Good Luck and don't blame me if you brick your phone. :p

Extract the tar file to a folder with Odin. Open Odin and select the tar/MD5 file as PDA. Turn off the phone, reboot into download mode (Home + Volume Down + Power, then Volume up). Connect the phone and check Odin has seen the phone, it'll give it a modem number. Make sure repartition is not selected and flash it.

I just flashed the latest CM9 nightly today, everything is working fine, and it looks awesome, just like a galaxy nexus now, so happy with this phone.

Great thing i have stumbled across is animation time, go into developer options then under window animation scale set it to 0.5 or off and it speeds everything up.
