Huawei Ascend G300

I did put CWM on - and I have got Google Apps, aye. I wasn't even sure what CWM is or does tbh, but I did it and followed the instructions so I can get onto the Google Play (which I assume is what you mean to be gapps/Google Apps?).

What does CWM mod do? Is that the boot at the start where I flashed gapps?
 
If you installed it ok,press and hold volume up,then power on,should boot into cwm. Mainly use it for backing up/recovering your phones rom. Also for flashing new roms/packages like gapps.

Get your phone how you like it then back it up,so if something goes screwy,you can just boot into cwm and restore your working backup. :)
 
That's what I used to install Google Play so yeah I'm all good on that front. :)

It's such an upgrade from my crummy iPhone 3G, I love the thing. Nice screen, pretty quick, ICS, tethering (which I didn't expect to actually work!) and decent battery life.

Tried both and neither work. The up/down vol gives me a pink screen. And the SD card update seems to just reboot the phone?
 
Yeah I've been following that guide. And updated to the official B885 for the sound fix. Also rooted and have CWM on there.
 
Have you got fastboot enabled? Might be that....but the ics update will need rooting and the bootloader unlocked after,plus cwm will need to be re-installed.
 
I have got fastboot enabled. Shouldn't I? And yeah I'm aware of the implications after flashing ICS. :)
 
No,was just wondering if that might have give you the pink screen. Have you got the dload folder with update.app on the root of the external sd card and not the phone memory?
 
So you're saying keep fastboot enabled? And I have tried on both the roots of the internal memory and my external mem card. Putting it back over to my external card now. Stupid question but the update.app is all in caps, I guess this makes no difference? :p

Also will try without the vendor folder as both the file in the vendor and the dload folders have the same name. Maybe the phone is confused as to which file it should be using.
 
Cant remember if i had fastboot off or on when i did mine,guess if it`s on turn it off and see. Yea,it`s in caps,should flash fine really.

I didn`t bother with the vendor folder,it just installs chinese bloat.
 
Wow this is getting annoying. Fastboot off, pink screen still. (this is with no vendor folder too). Really unsure of what I'm doing wrong.
 
All i did was pop the dload folder on my sd card and went through the sd card update on the phone,unsure why your not updating correctly.

And not a prob,sorry i couldn`t be more help. :)
 
I know I sound really silly but, mass storage and then dload folder onto the removable disk H (1.87GB). (My 2GB card) Because that's what I've been doing.

Just seems to reboot when I press the upgrade stuff. :( A black screen with some writing came up for a tiny second but I couldn't see it properly. (Before it rebooted)

That is what i did to. And then after it installed, i rooted, unlocked the bootloader, and then installed CWM. In that order.
