Tried it, dint enjoy it at all. Space games just don't really float my boat. I prefer an MMO where you control a "character" too.

You can wear a monocle! Eve is more galaxy simulation than game, and within that simulation some of the stuff you can get up to is just gobsmacking.

Trouble is, more often than not someone else gets up to something at your expense

Well, things seem to work great on the new L502x. I got one with the 1920 FHD panel, 4GB RAM and an i5 and things run just fine in EVE with a single client.

After about 30 mins the only thing I miss is a decent mouse - scanning with the trackpad sucks.

Overall, I'm very pleased with my laptop.

It's their next step for exploration. Looks a nice feature for more laid back play.

They've made it clear they won't be doing this at the expense of other FIS features though! (hope they stick to that - they've managed it so far)

Was just out ratting and salvaging to waste a bit of time, when my drones took down a pathetic little Guristas ship (demolisher I think). In the loot was a Worm BPC. What an epic little ship for the requirements. Should work great as a hi-sec hacking ship for those radar sites now that the Merlin has been changed.

Ive just restarted playing it from scratch after trying to play it a few years on a row. I find the entry and getting your started a lot better then it used to be.

any advice on best direction to go once you have done all the basic things? I think there is a OCUK chat channel or something? Could someone give guidance for the newbies who are on here.

I re-subbed a couple of days ago after being away for about 2 years had a nice 1.7m sp to spend from skill changes so specced up my mini combat pilot in to caldari for some mission running.

I have a full T2 fit Drake which is pretty fun to fly and has done maybe 10 lvl4's with no issues, managed to take out the 2.5m battleship at the end of one as well which was fun. It's just running with 3 inv fields, not even bothered with specific ones and had no issues with tanking so I also put in 3 damage mods to get to about 410dps.

Fitted a Raven as well last night, it's all T2 apart from best named cruiser launchers but the DPS is only 430~ so takes longer than the Drake to kills stuff the Drake murders cruisers and frigs and is still pretty good at BC/BS while the Raven seems only good at BC/BS levels and totally useless against T2 frigs/cruisers, am I doing something wrong?

Drake:
7 x t2 heavy with kinetic
2 x LSE t2
3 x Inv fields, think 2 t2 and one named for cpu
3 x BCS t2
1 x SPR t2
3 x core defence purgers
5 x t2 light drones

410~dps, tanked several lvl4's so far with no issues or warpouts

Raven:
6 best named cruise with rat specific missiles, 1 tractor, 1 salvager (training cruise missile lvl5 right now)
t2 XL booster and boost amp
4 x hardners T2
3 x BCS t2
1 x PDS t2
not decided on rigs yet?
5 x med T2 drones

430~dps, not tried any harder lvl4's yet but struggles with haq's etc

Mmmm.. i liked a Mael for lvl4 missions over the Raven, but the drake looks lovely.

yeah I used to run a Mael with either arts or AC's was a beast in some missions but just wanted to try something new, my mini skills are almost max as well but my missiles aren't there yet.

I just don't know what to do. I've always wanted to get in to Eve, I've tried several times over the years but always end up not getting in to it. Not sure if it's because I go back to a char with 2 mil SP that I don't really have any clue about...

I want to get in to the PvP side of things, I'm debating starting a new char but really not sure what to do, what race etc. Are there any guides for a completely new player to follow to get them started up??

yeah, its a beast in WC.. you just need some close drone support, but for the ranged targets (as mine was arty fit) it was lovely. Used to do WC with a corpie in a kronos with blasters

DanF, Cruise missiles are awful against frigs/cruisers. Either let your drones handle these (if you have go drone skills) or use a target painter/webber to help hit them with the missiles.
You mind find it easier and quicker sticking with the Drake. Alternatively add rigs to the Raven that help with explosion radius/velocity.
