How do we use them unrooted? Or do we have to be rooted?

Hmm. First link implys that anyone stock can use them, and second link to guide off the first link says rooted or unlocked is needed!

First of all, the bad news - if you're not rooted or don't have an unlocked bootloader, you will have to wait for the OTA.

Reckon I'll wait for a full 4.1.1 factory image to be available (rather than update image) before updating - as I want a complete install from scratch.

so once we are on this leaked 4.1.1 from xda are we on the 100% final? im still thinking i will get the stock img from the link below as soon as it appears and do a clean install

dont forget to backup your sdcard folder, if you install the factory image.

if i get any random problems with the update, i'll do a fresh install from there

i'd have thought you'd get the update sometime this week if you're on a yakju build

You will be at the same level of release as the stock image. If I don't get the ota before next week and the image is out I will flash the image.

Nope I've been trying but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Also it would seem that clearing your framework cache messes up GooglePlay haha.

This week, next week, it's pot luck with the ota.

Colleague at work with a rooted Nexus did the forced update.
Worked fine.

Seems slightly quicker. The real difference is the new features, with GoogleNow surprisingly generating results for him already!
