Damn shoulders! I'm going to steal them.

Nout wrong with Nandos food, never makes me ill. As always, its dependent on where you get the nandos from. Same with every other food outlet chain.

Then suddenly no one gives a hoot about the natty level of competition, and everyone watches the assisted tier, which in turn leads to all the money being in the assisted tier, which again, in turn means natty people have no choice but to move over to the assisted tier

Which is pretty much how it is today anyway unfortunately

Who would you rather watch? A 100m final full of runners on performance enhancers where you might see a world record broken and truly ridiculous pace? Or natty runners where you might just see sub 10s time...

Sadly true :(

Oh I agree entirely.

That's why I think sportspeople should be paid a lot less... but that's another debate.

I have agreed with all the points you've made so far and especially this one.

I never understood why these people get paid millions, especially when in the states so many get caught on substances they shouldn't be.

On another note, I've decided to do a new course just for myself and my knowledge.

After I finish this Six Sigma certification I want to start a Personal Training course and possibly a Sports Nutrition one after that, if I have time before September :D

I spent an hour chatting to Vinny the BB/Trainer at my little gym about it.

Speaking of Nando's, I have not had any since I left South Africa over a decade ago. I saw one near the otherhalf's town. Might take her there and go try it some time :)

People get paid what they are worth, be it sports, banking or any other job.
Top paid sports stars are paid lots because they make even more for the parent company.
It's hard to argue their wages when you see why they are paid it.

Ive actually completed this program and cant rate it highly enough, it really is a fantastic HIIT cardio workout, honestly love it.

I went from 84kg, to 72kg whilst doing it

While I can agree with the weight loss and the way the program will work for that. The before and after pictures are literally daft in some cases.

They're your typical 'make the fit git bloated, take a pic, let the boat disappear, take the after pic' :p

yep, always makes me laugh when minimum wagers go nuts over someone earning millions. People are paid what they are worth period.

Bob Diamond was paid more per day than what the majority of premiership footballers earn a month.

Bill Gates earned more per hour than most premiership footballers earned per annum.

Top hedge fund managers earn more per hour than most earn in their entire football career.

If you want to be angsty about someone's pay cheque, it should be the "elite" businessmen of the world. It is simply impossible for anyone to be actually worth as much as they rake in.

Yea, although saying that, my strength improved massively also, i mean when i started it i could barely do 5 push ups in a row!

Aye naturally :)

It's quite a good thing to do at the start I think, something I could have done before I had a gym...Instead I sat at home doing nothing.

Would have provided a nice base for myself and be a general fitness boost. Hindsight eh? ;)

and Syla5 the reason there seems to be a problem in cycling is they get tested more than any other sport out there. just imagine the state of football if they got tested half as much as cyclist.
i didnt mean cycling the sport ;)

Comparing Bob Diamond to the majority of premiership footballers, is like comparing wayne rooney to the majority of Banking Directors. A pretty unbalanced comparison really.

Same for all the others.

Lets compare Diamond to Rooney

Diamond in 2011 earned £17mil in pay, shares, and perks
Rooneys new contract for the 2011-2012 season was £250k per week, just for football thats £13mil add in to that sponsorship deals etc and your going to get in to the same ball park.

I personally think that the top level executives and sportsmen alike are all paid far to much for the jobs they actually do, sadly thats the world we live in and it wont change.

What they do and what they do for the company are two different things though.
People only look at what they do and say 90 mins of running around each week isn't worth millions.
You have to look at what that does for the company. The wages are agreed by many people, when it comes to banks the wage and perks are agreed by many many people who's money is at stake. If they believe they are worth paying so much then how can any one argue that?

ahh fair enough syla5 :P

and footballers are on too much, just look at the state of some clubs finances who try to get promoted or some who end up getting demoted and then have to sell players due to lack of funds. will be entertaining when the whole system implodes through lack of funds in a few more years.

Mirin shoulders Monkee, can see you've hit that point where you start actually looking bigger instead of smaller on the cut.

Cheers mate! My torso is a mess at the moment still, but I think that's partly from bloat, water and the fact I was up hurling last night. It's just all swollen and undefined. But few more days of eating clean and I'll be back to looking good and full I'm hoping - IE, in time for the gym ratz meet!

Then after my holiday I'll be starting my bulk :)

Just dropping by for a quick progress update!

I've gained 20lb withouts supps and naturally. Lost the abs and look podgy but my strength is still rocketing. I'm now sitting in at 175lb. I hit my 3/4lb per month increase target with minimum fat gain. I feel like I'm ready to destroy my deadlifts by atleast 20KG without straps or belt and I'm confident I can come back to my squat after 2 years and smash it with a 200KG raw.

I've been focusing on more core workouts, as a result everything else has rocketed. After putting on 20lb, I managed my first muscle up and I'm now working on perfecting these! I've also cleared weighted 50KG for a clean (dead hang) rep for chins.

I thought I'd try clean and presses after leaving them for over a year (due to clavicle issues) and I did 100 (new PR) comfortably yesterday for 4 singles. I've also PR'd on incline DB presses at 46KG each for 10 reps on my first try.

Over and out fellow gym rats :)

One of my more substantial annoyances with football is that they don't work hard on a good strength and conditioning programme. The majority of teams only properly train their players once a week, because 90 mins of running around is "brutal and needs a few days of recovery" and they can't train within days of a game so that every one is fresh.

Most players are actually relatively untrained during the season. I'm not just talking about weights training here either, although it's shocking that they don't take that seriously either.

Compare this with rugby; much more demanding games and require more recovery due to being smashed about, and yet they generally train like beasts during the week.

I played football every season from when I was 10 to 17, and now I have very little respect for the sport :p. It doesn't help that the majority of the players are whining man babies.

Another Lean Six Sigma guy! They're everywhere on here! :D

A footballer is not worth the salary he draws - sure some give a heft percentage to charity, and some do good things with it (set up foundations, trusts etc...) - however the rest don't do anything constructive with it.

I'm not upset, I earn a decent salary, I just think some of the salaries are disproportionate and outrageous for what they do.

I'd say that Bill Gates and a lot of bankers have actually achieved something more useful than a lot of sports people. However, that's a personal opinion.

I hate the fans. Footballer X raped your wife, killed your children and ate a baby. But it's ok, he scored for your team so all is forgiven.

iam sorry but thats complete tosh as far as football is concerned, not a single club in the premier league made any profit, the main cause of this is player wages.

A clear sign that the plays are not contributing more to the company then they are getting paid!

compare that to company executives, and in all of the examples that were given each of those companies has made multiples times the amount in a single year than any football club has main in its entire exsistance.

Ice mentioned rugby players, i must agree that they earn there salt so to speak, also rugby has player wage caps! a genius idea that should be brought in to all sports around the world, but thats never going to happen.
