i just played this again today after a very long while...
what exactly is the point of the IGLA/Stinger?
seems like the lock on range has been more than halved since i last used it and flares come back too fast, i counted around 3 flare drops per 2 missiles fired.
I can understand that with a team of people using them you may get some luck, but as a general player just joining games to have 'fun' i can't see it's use.
takes 2-3 missiles to destroy an aircraft and in that time most can drop 6-9 flares meaning every missile you fire is wasted as such.
just seems like a utterly useless weapon i find using tank shells easier to take out aircraft.
also what's the point of map packs if there is never any maps running from said packs? lol in particular wake island, i know the new maps are out and are more popular but still.
Battlefield is balanced on team work not on gun solo. You can be Chuck Norris and kill 3 people out of a squad but the last one will always kill you and revive all the others around him you just killed. All it takes is two engineers to work together or a sniper/javelin combo and any air threat can be quenched.
Wake Island just isn't very good in this iteration also. Don't know if it's specifically down to the 24 player limit or the three capture points on consoles, or the vehicle setup or something new in this version of Battlefield, but it just doesn't work as well as it has done before.
Wake Island from Battlefield 1943 was excellent. I am quite sure it was a lot smaller on consoles and therefore worked better. Always lots of action going on. The player count does hinder it a lot in BF3. Kharg, Wake, Firestorm are borefests on consoles for me.
