***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

I am impressed with the phone overall but not with the battery life so far. Admittedly I have the screen on full brightness but so far 1.5 hours screen-on time and my battery is down to 50%. Most of that was on chrome (white web pages which I know reduces battery life) but I was expecting a bit more.

Lol, you are going to get dreadful battery life with the screen on 100% brightness all the time for all smartphones :p

Not to mention making your eye sight bad  if it isn't already that is :p

If you're at 50% after 1.5 hours screen time at 100% brightness that isn't too bad really. It's probably the best you could expect!

They are just far too bright at that sort of level anyway (it's only useful for outdoors).

Different thresholds for brightness I guess but I had my iphone 4 on full brightness. I hate looking at dull screens but I guess I'll have to drop the brightness.

So I got the nillkin case yesterday ... dropped the phone today. :p

Luckily everything still works fine, irony is if I had kept the Samsung mesh case on there would probably be no damage at all. :p

Wow!

Didn't think it would chip/dent like that, thought it would have been at least as good as the GS 2 for durability, nearly as bad as the S when dented/chipped :p

Lucky in some ways that the screen didn't crack though.

Would be a lot more noticeable on the PB as well.

*everyone rushes to get a TPU case on now*

:p

whoops :o meant a case that covers all edges but at the cost of not looking as pretty e.g. TPU case :p

I was going to get a nillkin/rock case for my S (still expecting the nillkin to show up in the next 5 weeks or so for a review though :p) but wasn't happy that the top and bottom were exposed and given how easily the S chips/dents, it is a requirement to have every edge covered! :p

Galaxy S III review

Excellent review Robbo - joy to read :D

The performance is undoubtedly hot - as are all the key areas of the phone; loudspeaker, screen, earpiece, camera, Led, battery-life, storage...

It ticks soo many boxes that it's easy to see why this phone sells bucket loads!

Now please Samsung make a black model - time is running out! :p

Just had an odd one - I rebooted my phone that's been up for about 7 days and upon reboot it was not responding. Then I get a message flash up "Unfortunately, the NFC service has stopped".
It appeared to be stuck in a loop as the message would appear every 10 secs but any movements and screen presses would be actioned in the split second after you hit OK, then it would freeze again.

Managed to uninstall all the updates to the NFC service and rebooted - back to normal.

NFC was not enabled and I've not knowingly updated anything to do with NFC.
My phone is stock LF2 ROM which I've rooted, and upgraded to radio to NELE4.

Was using a Sky Go app someone linked to in here, It's stopped working. It says it needs to update, takes me to play store and then says incompatible -.-

Sky take the ****!

Anyone know any other working sky go apps?

The ICS version of Sky GO is due later this month from Sky.......

Just in time for Jelly Bean and another 6 months wait.

It probably would not have slipped if you had the grippier ROCK case to be honest :)

I use my phone one handed while eating a sandwich walking to/from work or during work, no loss of grip-confidence!
