I can finally talk about what game I've been working on the past 7 or 8 months!

Codemasters just announced F1 Race Stars and I can't be more excited right now!

Codemasters has unveiled its family-friendly official F1 racer, and announced that the game's coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this November.

Called F1 Race Stars, the game is being developer by Codemasters' Birmingham studio - the same outfit that develops Codemasters' mainline F1 series.

What do you guys think? :)

Didn't see this coming, wonder if this is part of a broader push by F1 to appeal to a much younger audience? Be interested to know if you came up with the idea in-house, or they approached you with the concept. Mclaren have started making "cartoons" as well as they attempt to widen their appeal.

Think it will ultimately be something I try as an F1 fan, but pass on.

I think this looks epic. Are there vintage driver to choose etc? SENNA?

How about tracks "Based" on real ones? location wise etc?

There's a nice preview here: http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/07/13/preview-f1-race-stars-xbox-360-ps3/comment-page-2/#comments

Taking starring roles are old favourites like Silverstone, the new Circuit of Americas, Spa, Japan and the iconic Monaco, all of which are amplified and distorted into courses rather more fun than factual. There’s more, but Codemasters aren’t spilling all the details just yet.

Other pickups announced so far include a Safety Car to slow down other cars, Wet Weather to cause spins and the first-place destroying Rain Cloud. In addition, Racing Line zones will catapult drivers forwards, and slipstreaming is in too.

Codemasters already have the F1 Licence though, so unless there is some stipulation on how many games they are allowed to release, they might not of even had to pay more for it... who knows.

Its obviously very Mario Kart, so it will be interesting to see if it can bring something new to the table.

So does this mean F12012 will still be a buggy mess? :(

Apparently they have changed how they work and as a result the each step of the game can't advance until it's checked off (or something like that) so they are hoping there will be less big bugs at launch.

That's what Steven Hood said in an interview anyway, could be criticism-deflecting BS.

SPOnG: How are you dealing with the bugs and errors that are appearing in the F1 games upon their release?

SH: Previously we would be working as a single team on the entire game and when bugs appear the development would stop as we try to track them down. This year we have a series of teams all working on separate elements of the game, which is being tested all of the time, and when it passes a certain number of tests, it gets integrated into the main game.

This allows us to do better quality checks, where previously we missed stuff. Whether or not this new method of working and testing works or not will be proven upon the game's release.

Well I hope that is true! But I'll believe it when I see it :D

Cheers Nismo.

This game looks ok but isn't really my cup of tea (to stay on topic)
