No way. For starters nobody outside of the comics has ever heard of 75% of the characters in Dark Avengers. For seconds the ones they have heard of are tied to the Spiderman and Xmen IP, neither of which Marvel has the rights to any more. For thirds Avengers 2 has its hands full with Thanos. No need for further villains.

Pity as I love the story but if Marvel go that route its going to be much further into the future.

Yeah second film is Thanos with a Guardians of the Galaxy tie in somewhere...

They want to try to make Guardians of the Galaxy before Avengers 2. Which is probably a wise idea. Scaling up the action to a galactic level is probably the only sensible way to plan for a sequel.

I know there was talk of Extremis before and I've read that and this suit certainly wasn't in that...

Extremis certainly seems to be the core of the story, from the reports we've heard so far. Some of the concept art confirms it too.
 
I'm expecting him to acquire the extremis viral technology towards the end of the film.

From what I've heard, that suit will be his Next traditional model up, where the suit forms around him from say a suitcase etc, at least that's the sound from the teaser they played at CC.
 
Aye that's definitely the Mark VIII, the suits are getting a bit stupid looking now though I didn't like the Mark VII in the Avengers either
