Looks like Hamburg want VDV and the owner is willing to spend his personal monies on him.

Madrid look to offload Kaka, Sahin, Diarra, Carvalho and Gago. Will be interesting to see who they bring in. Spurs want 36m for Modric. The papers are saying RM have offered 35m?

Higuain has said he wants to move to the PL. A London or Manchester based team is his personal preference. I'd have him at United for sure.

I don't think they need to change Ron's role when he is doing fine as a winger/CAM. Benzema is now the first choice to start games for RM as a lone striker. Higuain is still young and could go for a good price. He is being wasted on the bench and being a bit part player.

I'd personally play Higuain instead of Benzema but I think theres more to it than that at Madrid.

Must suck to be Higuain right now. Can't get into the starting line up for club or country.

heres an interestign article that was perhaps too close to the bone and got pulled. but the opinion is an interesting one, one that i have conveyed over and over again.

It might have been so contentious that goal.com pulled it after backlash from Tom84 et al.

"There are some things, though - and then there's Manchester United’s midfield. After signing Owen Hargreaves in July 2007 – a player legendary knee surgeon Richard Steadman described as having the worst knobblies he'd ever seen – Sir Alex Ferguson spent five whole years refusing, or more likely unable, to recruit reinforcements. "...
...

"So instead United made do, regressing and regressing in their midfield composition. All of a sudden, it could contain up to any three of Quinton Fortune, Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba, Phil Neville and Alan Smith."...

"Well, after the last raft of midfield signings, United ended up with a version of what tactics charmers call a broken team: some players defend and some try to score, but no one knits those two elements together, and there's no discernible style. "

Because i am tired of speculation,i am talling you this. I read the papers and i see they say 10 million pounds is my price. I go and talk with Sir Alex, and he says to me 5 million..So who is talling the truth, what do you think??..And the truth is, I love this club, but i am not going to be useful to anyone, if i am not playing. And i want to play, i want to help. But for unknown reasons its not going to happen, or my chances will be limited, so it's better for everyone if we say goodbay. If not, i am professional and i will keep doing everything i can, to help my team and my teammates, whenever i have opportunity to do so.

I can't say I blame him. He hasn't done anything wrong and has been treated like garbage. £5m? A steal.

I'd love Jol to re-sign Berbatov, doubt we could front the wages though.

Fulham have been made 1/1 favourites to sign Jordan Rhodes suddenly, too.

Feel sorry for Berba, he just hasnt been given a chance by Fergie in the past few seasons. Probably best for all if he does move on, at £5mill i wouldnt mind seeing him at the Emirates next season but i doubt Wenger would buy him.

i don't have to back anything up, everyone bar chelsea supporters (well, in your case, an exception as you were hardly singing his praises) i find it laughable that you defend a person like john terry. john terry 'daddy of the year'. i have my opinion of him and i'm quite happy with it.

this is the transfer thread btw. i hope you input more into the forum rather than just bleating on about this subject.

That's ironic. You talk about "contribution to the forum" when your contribution is at best mistaken, and at worst malicious in spreading a nasty story with no proof.

"I don't have to back anything up" just means that no one will attach any weight to your posts. You've even been pulled up on it in this thread by another user as you appear to have a selective memory when it comes to what you have/haven't said.

I've got no problem with you having an opinion. But that's all it is. An opinion.
You took it a step further with the following:

You've had 4 days to come up with one piece of evidence that supports you making a public statement that John Terry paid Veronica Perroncel to abort his unborn child, and that she accepted the money.

It's not about an opinion. It's about you repeating and spreading something as a fact, and then not backing it up.

I honestly can't understand the Berbatov situation, there isn't a team in the premiership who shouldn't of been trying to get him for £5mil since the end of last season. Just about the only team that can't be improved by him is City, and that's because they have more top strikers than they can start so have top class backup.

I'd like him at Arsenal but no point, Wenger wouldn't play him on the wing, wouldn't start him upfront, hell, Newcastle could have a freaking awesome player for a few years. While a few Utd fans insist he slows down attacks, they are both completely and utterly wrong, and he was at his best controlling a difficult pass forward then playing Rooney/Ronaldo in behind, they played their BEST counter attacking quick football with him. Some people simply can't quite comprehend, you can move the ball quicker passing it then running with it, with no exceptions. His vision, ability made him perfect for playing the faster players in behind.

i'd have him back at spurs, especially for £5m.

i don't understand why ferguson said that to him? he must really not like the bloke.

Thats what i dont understand, it seems like Fergie really has it in for him and wont play him out of spite. Fair enough hes had his chances and failed to shine but having no match practice isnt going to help him score goals when he does play.

He's never failed to shine, he wasn't a massive goal scorer before he joined Utd, he wasn't a massive goal scorer after he joined Utd. He's a playmaker, at Spurs he'd get the ball and play Keane in behind, he's someone to play a 1-2 off and get played in behind, he did that exceptionally well in his last season at Spurs and he did that exceptionally well at Utd.

But Utd were going through their phase of fans only liking the players that ran around loads like a headless chicken, and anyone that didn't do that was automatically lazy. The fans turned on Berbatov for not being Rooney, not being Ronaldo and not playing like either, while also not scoring 30 goals.

He plays, other players get goals, and often through his work, his ability to hold onto the ball, play others in, control the ball better than anyone on the team, make space and also the odd piece of sheer brilliance, on top of that he had a far amount of goals himself. Exceptional player who doesn't fit the English idea of running around aimlessly all the time somehow equating to good football.

Seriously, you think thats how these things work. You can't change the entire way we play because a player doesn't suit your current squad. United would have done a lot worse over the last few years had we used Berbatov as our main striker. Thats not a reflection of his talents, merely the other players available.

Ronaldo would be **** if he went and tried to play in the Barcelona team, that has no bearing on his quality.

Personally I dont believe Utd would have won more games / drawn games we actually lost had Berba actually played more in 11/12 season

Is it Utd's fault that other clubs arent willing to pay a reasonable amount (remember he was available in Jan aswell)?

He was an experiment that didnt work for 3 out of the 4 years so far (and arguably he didnt work in majority of games in the 4th either), but he is still a quality player for majority of the EPL

Whether its £5m or £10m for him, I cant see why he isnt worth it even given his age - yes of course Utd want as much back for him as possible and while SAF cant be believed blindly, in this caae I do believe all the club are after is £5m, which is a steal for any EPL club -however they want to play.

Maybe its wages /level of club thats stopping Berba going?
