Didn't he replace Tevez in what was essentially an attacking front three for a team that was playing some of the best counter attacking football the Premiership had ever seen at the time? No idea what Fergie was thinking buying him because he was never going to fit in well with the system he was playing.

Why Ferguson said what?

I read the papers and i see they say 10 million pounds is my price. I go and talk with Sir Alex, and he says to me 5 million..So who is talling the truth,

why did he say £5m. ok obviously this means that £5m is the price they are valuing him at but he's worth atleast £10m imo. ok he's getting on a bit but pace was never really a part of his game.

i would have thought united would be looking for more than £5m for him, that is a bargain. especially considering his original fee.

i have no idea what berbatov has done to deserve such treatment? DM sums berbatov up pretty spot on and united knew this when they paid so much for him. really has turned out quite bizarrely. with the way he treated jol and spurs, i'm finding it hard to not take a bit of joy out of it, but i can't, he's a quality player, one of the best and most unique forwards the prem has seen for a long time, i want to see him play in the prem.

**** off if we sell Carroll.

Completely mis managed by Dalglish, particularly when he dropped him for the FA Cup final when he was our best player in form going into it scoring vs everton/blackburn and the only one giving a **** vs Fulham a few days before.

And the only one who managed to score vs Chelsea.

Which of Ba or Cisse are off then? :D

Also Syke might be able to confirm but is it true Fulham have signed Moussa Dembele from PSG?

Neither Ba or Cisse would have to leave.

We are in Europe meaning more games, have the ACoN do we could do with 3 strikers. Apparently Pards has said we are back to 442 most games this season playing Cisse/Ba so Carroll would have no bother fitting in that especially with the crosses we will sling into him.

I would have him back, even just to see him eat some humble pie, as he is a good player and I think he would do well for us again. Especially if he get him for £15mill or something. Ultimate Cashley troll of a £20mill 18 month loan :D he'll go hammer the casino if he pulls that stunt off :p

lolz.

Local press have been getting more details. Year loan with a view to buy for 13million.

Andy Knew about it now for 3 days.

Take it that this the big CF we want to score goals with his head

Always felt sorry for andy at liverpool. Never played to his strength and got a shed load of abuse when other players where worse.

Might I add That Newcastle had a very big sell on clause in that 35mi deal which is way the figure is low. Mike Ashley and Co are ruthless!!

He was garbage until he got subbed in the game against your lot. Improved massively after that but never should've bought him in the first place. One of many Dalglish mistakes that will need to be undone.

Yeah I heard we have a 25% sell on clause in the contact so £13-15mill to us is the equivalent of getting on to £20mill from another club.

I think it would be a mistake to do a loan/buy as if he plays well Pool can just snag him back.

I would laugh my head off if we get him for £13mill. Cashley... Just wow that it is pretty impressive business :p

i don't think they would. carroll is a classic case of it working for a player at one club and not working at another.

liverpool will look at the money they made on torres and write it off against the loss on carroll.

I would be pretty sure it would be in the contract that we would have the final say so.

We pay all fees up front now not over installments over years like most clubs.

I would expect Loan fee around 2-3million with option to buy clause of around 12m.

If I was liverpool i would take it.

Would have to half his wages to come back to us which could stop the move.

I'm still failing to see what Fergie said that you've taken exception to?

From what I can gather from the quotes Fergie has told Berbatov he'd accept 5m for him and it's just the media who are pricing him at 10m, for me that's Fergie (short of giving him away for free) giving Berbatov the very best shot of finding another club.

I'm sure I've said this before but I'll say it again; ultimately replacing Tevez with Berbatov has been a mistake from Fergie, I can see what we were thinking buying Berbatov (and how on paper he should have been able to slot right in and form a great partnership with Rooney) but in hindsight it hasn't worked and we've actually ended up weakening ourselves I'm not sure I buy into this Fergie's treated him badly malarkey though; if every player who's out of favour at their club is simply in that predicament due to the manager treating them unfairly then it's something you can point to every manager in the world as being guilty of.

I've always liked Berbatov as a player but at the end of the day he doesn't work well with Rooney nor is he a plorific goal scorer you can turn to in an injury crisis so he offers very little to us. Hope he finds another club and scores lots of goals and shows the world the qualities he does have

One of many Dalglish mistakes that will need to be undone.

As I've said before, I doubt Dalglish was the driving force behind either the Carroll or Suarez deals. He'd only just got the job on a temp basis and it was far from certain that he was going to get the permanent job.

On this supposed loan to Newcastle. Unless there's a guaranteed sale at the end of the loan (and of course it's for a reasonable amount) or a large loan fee then I can't see us being interested.

Disagree, if you're playing a settled 4-4-2 then one of the 3 will be spending a lot of the time on the bench, sure for Newcastle it'll be great if come January and 2 of them are off at the ACN that you still have Carroll around but there's a bigger picture to look at. Personally despite the recent denials I reckon Ba would be the logical one to move on; he spent most of the second half of last season in Cisse's shadow and out of position anyway so let him go, get Carroll in and you're sorted not only pre and post ACN but during it also.

As for Carroll I always got the impression that he never wanted to leave Newcastle in the first place and it was Ashley that forced him out of the club and to sign for Liverpool?

Yes he did, it was a massive mistake which some people pointed out at the time.
Now after half a good season in the past 4 and the last 18 months spent sat on the bench he's off for a pittance.

He was the wrong player at the wrong time and the wrong club.

What's he on?

I thought our ceiling was 65k?
