What we will we remember the 00's for?

For me it is ...

Film: Avatar
Car: Veyron
Music: Death of MJ
Tech: Broadband
Sport: Lewis Hamiltons last race, last lap, last corner F1 championship victory (I can still hear MB shouting "Is that Glock?")
World: 9/11 Attack
Other: Recession/Bird Flu/Hurricane Katrina/ipod

You have the wrong idea. Especially in America, the corporations and big businesses' lobbies have a massive say in policies. The UK has very similar.
There's nothing the general population can do about it. To say it's a problem with democracy is profoundly ignorant and not taking into account the influence of these corporations in domestic and international policy.

but big businesses lobby by giving politicians money to campaign.

That only works because people are pretty dim and vote for the guy who has the best PR and the most adverts.

If people made their decisions on facts not who has the best jingle on their tv advert the lobbying would be unsuccessful.

Are you somehow implying that people voting makes a blind bit of difference?

I don't get why people are falling for the ruse that "9/11" was the start of the "war on terror", like it was the first case of terrorism ever (some would have you believe, because it happened to America).

If that had happened in another country, I don't think you would hear about it nearly as much. What happened should be what's important rather than "who" it happened to. So many people and countries take it as a world event while ignoring many other things that have happened across the world.

I think it will be the spread of the internet. At the end of the 90s the net was still a bit of a novelty, that while many people had access to it, its had not become a major part of life as it did not have that many mainstream uses. By the end of the 00s the internet had become mainstream and had revolutionized the way many of us communicate and spend our leisure time not to mention the way that we work and study. Whether that be spending time on Facebook, watching TV or films online and doing shopping online. By the end of the decade many of our devices were connected, and dependent on, the net from smart phones to Games consoles, and many of these would not exist in their current form if the Internet had not taken off in such a big way.

Really?

a) It was awful
b) I honestly can't remember the name of a single character or what it was really about
c) It was awful

A). It was good
B) it made me want some "beastiality" fun with some feline alien things
c) it was good

As well as ground breaking, highest earner and such like.even if you don't like it, it's still the film of the decade for what it achieved and did.
