Well I have spent a whole day on this Motherboard... which looks great :) but is actually a pile of poo - at least my one is.

Basically it will not run memory in the 1st two slots and just reports error code 55 (no Ram) if any memory is put into either of these slots.

I have tried my 3770K and a Sandy Bridge i3 2120 and reseated them many times with the stock cooler and my Heatkiller 3 water block.

I have tried my Samsung Green ram and some ADATA AM2U139C4P2 (which is on the supported list).

I can only conclude that either my board is faulty or that the board design is just rubbish.

strange mine works fine with stock cooler but does the same as yours with venomous x cooler

Nah mine must be another issue and i think having tried the stock cooler and a Sandy bridge and some memory thats on the ASUS approved list I think i must assume that there is something physically wrong with the board.

Anyway, even if it had worked with the stock cooler and not my water block, that would be far from acceptable.

Its either RMA or return to the guy i brought it from i fear.

yeh looks like its rma time for you im going to try another air cooler with mine if thats the same im going to rma mine aswell good luck

Sorry to hear this mate not a good start at all. Hopefully your replacment will clock well and be rock stable.

Update. Took the board out of the case and gave the socket a good look though a magnifying glass and I can see one pin is broken off and several areas have bent or missalighed pins. When the board arrived with me it had no CPU cover/protector and there was not one in the box.

Oh dear this is goign to get complex because an RMA will not work now and how to prove if I broke it, which I doubt, or if it was broken when I got it... :(

i saw that listing for the same MVF that you bought and tbh it didnt sound right

the guy said he is selling it cause it wont fit in his ATX case which IMO is BS

while it is slightly larger than a standard ATX mobo its only by an 1 inch or so should still fit

since you got it off ebay open a dispute and get your money back

the guy obliviously broke it and is trying to pull a fast one

this is why im going to wait and not bother importing

if its mashed then im screwed

If it didn't have the socket cover on it I would have sent it back without even trying it. Asus put warnings all over their new boards stating that they will not accept any board back without the socket cover installed, which I think is fair enough.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a manufacturing sample that someone has damaged and they were just waiting for a product release before they could try and sell it on. Seen that happen before - be very wary of hot new items appearing quickly on ebay as 2nd hand.

Looks like i'm going to be fine... the seller is accepting it back and offering a full refund :)

Simon I have spoken in depth with Shamino about this today and your board has almost 100% been warped by the passed user and CPU contact on the pins is poor, hence the missing channel.

Glade you have sorted it though. My Formula under serious hammer (Cold, Volts, DRAM volts) works flawlessly.

i'm quite certain that its a damaged socket. One pin is definatly missing.
Anyway its gone back and I think i will stick to my P8P67 for now, after all it does everything I need, the Formula just looked nice.

Thanks for spending time on this 8Pack greatly apprechiated.

No problem. Yeah your symptoms are a pin problem I am certain and have confirmed this. The pin is probably still in the socket but bent under another.

I thought you had abandoned ASUS???

Tell me, where in what I wrote did I say I was going to buy one? My job requires me to keep abreast of new kit, hence I still take an interest ... thats allowed right? Since when did you turn into the internet police?

Besides, I've hardly abandoned Asus when only a few ago I forked out on a RIVE, but waiting for a company from who you expect better sure tests your brand loyalty, and this is something I've been blogging heavily about lately.

I'm going to try a Gigabyte UP board for just sheer... please fully star out swear words!... and giggles as I have a brand new 3770k sitting in a box with nothing better to do and I don't see any point in being loyal to a particular brand when they can't launch anything in a timely manner.
