***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Oh god I love this phone!! Absolutely no competition, Samsung have nailed it. It's an absolute joy to use.

Day 1 usage, I'm very happy with this!

I have the blue one and it is lovely. I was a skeptic at first but it's gorgeous in the flesh.

Also, sound quality from the Wolfson DAC is absolutely brilliant.

See where you’ve got large portions of deep sleep? I found that it’s quite easy to get epic battery life by chunking out usage patterns like that. A chunk of usage then hours and hours of deep sleep results in a long battery life whereas consistent regular usage for 16 hours results is heavier drain (expected).

Undervolt/Undeclock whores :p

I'm not risking bricking my 64GB exFAT MSD using custom kernels.

In other news, on LG1 Wanamlite ROM now, simple upgrade.

Well I was out that night so not using the phone for long periods as I was busy drinking haha :)

But yes... very happy. It smashes my old Desire Z (terrible phone!) to pieces!

Updated firmware yesterday to LFB; The battery monitor now works better

As said before does seem snappier; weather data finds location easily now
Some changes to the notification pane, but haven't sorted them out yet.

I'm not that impressed, I found the sound rather flat. Also there is sound crackling issue. Both issues which I resolved using custom kernel.

UV'ing doesn't boost the battery much if at all, its the screen and poor reception. I can get 0.5% per hour drain over last night with mobile data and sync on.

Updated to Wanamlite 1.7 last night, great rom.

I am really considering using wanam at the minute, but I have just two(three) questions:

  • What bloat should I be removing? I am from a HTC phone so I don't know what's useful and not.
  • Are there any mods/customizations that are must haves? I've seen the camera mod mentioned a few times in this thread but haven't went down that route yet.
  • I think I am on the latest baseband, XXLFB. But does flashing custom ROMs update the baseband the same way it updated the radio for HTC?

Can anyone help a brother other? :p

Baseband can be flashed any time, Wanam's ROM flashes a new baseband anyway.

Camera mod is included and Wanam's ROM has bloat removed and available to install via flashable zip if you want Samsung apps etc.

I don't use any other mods other than cell standby reporting fixer.

Thanks muchly mrk, usually read your posts when doing these things but couldn't see mention of any extras anywhere.

Also your appbrain hasn't updated since the 24th June! /stalker.

I don't really use it much any more, I tried it that once but remembered why I didn't use it much any more, because web installs work without needing web installer plugins etc via Google Play now :p

I should reinstall it I guess and just sync to keep the shared list updated for peeps who might be interested?
