Relax all Utd fans , the club have cover for Evra already and waiting at the club, so no need to spend £15-£20m on Baines

He is English and highly raited (where have I heard that combination of words before)

(oohh and btw he is from our U18 side, and still very green - for a 1st XI player)

Even reading all the stuff I can find about Utd 's younger squads I dont remember hearing much about the guy, I wish him the best of lucK and hope he comes on leaps and bounds, but I cant believe he is anything less than a year or two away from challanging for a permanent place in a matchday squad)

Have to feel a little sorry for andy carroll, being discarded like an unwanted xmas present. He had potential which has been severely damaged by KK and the liverpool coaching staff.

We've given Andy more than enough chances to succeed with us. People seem to forget how unfit he was at the beginning of the season. Tactically he was awful but we've improved him since he's joined us.

As soon as he saw BR confirmed as our new manager he must have known his time was up. Anything above the £20 million mark and we've done well.

Could be an interesting deal with Newcastle. I would imagine if any deal is made that also writes off any further payments due for the original transfer. Wonder how the payments were split originally?

Agreed but the fact you rinsed us of £35 million, I think it would only be only curtious if you paid the asking. :)

i've just noticed your location :D

you're dreaming if you think you'd get over £20m for him imo, his stock has crashed and you paid too much for him in the first place, due to the £50m you got from chelsea and the time running out in the transfer window. ashley played a blinder. spurs set the ball rolling with a £20m bid.

if he does go back to newcastle, there will be a few lolz but it happens, it'll soon be forgotten about and liverpool would just write it off with the profit from the torres transfer and move on. i think carroll is alright as a bloke, i'd rather see him doing well than sat on a bench. it's a lot of pressure for him, it's easy to forget how young he is.

Carroll shouldn't have gone for more than £15 - 20 million max and after the last season, why on earth would anyone pay more than £15 million for him. His transfer fee is completely irrelevant to his current value.

In other news, hearing the occasional rumour about Eriksen to united but I have pretty much given up on listening to what the papers say. If all our midfielders are fit for most of the season I don't think we will have any issues but one injury to a key central midfielder could be a serious dent to our ambitions.

I think there is a lot of "nose" because Zenit are reportedly in negotiations and yet the player would prefer Barca or Utd (over Zenit, who wouldnt lol)

Dont believe Utd are that interested, but who knows...

That will be the £25m Oscar deal, will it not?

Is he really bigger than Hazard, he's certainly not more expensive.

It said bigger deal, not biggest player, so its definitely not him OR Oscar will cost a lot more than the press are suggesting.

Newcastle have been on a kick to get the transfers in one lump sum, and likewise AFAIK Chelsea gave them 50mil in one lump sum, so it was likely they had all the cash on hand and payed in one lump sum also. Either way, what kind of idiots would Newcastle be to pay 15mil and write off 5-10mil of the original transfer, complete waste of time.

I honestly don't know why they are doing it, as for the good form Carroll showed at the end of the season, asides from being hyped up from Liverpool fans and the "lets talk up every person who could play for England this summer" lot, Carroll was as effective(or not) as he was all season. 9 goals for Liverpool, 4 in the FA cup, 1 carling, 4 league. League goals/assists came against almost no one useful, one assist against Chelsea, after they won the FA cup and were resting players and clear as day didn't care about the result and were embarrassing start to finish.... big whoop. Rest of his goals/assists were against Blackburn, Everton, Exeter, Oldham, West Brom, Bolton, Brighton, Wolves, and Man Utd(cup only, assist only). So largely against really **** teams, really really **** teams.

I don't see how he fits in with their squad, don't see why they should pay him a huge wage nor pay errm, 15mil more than Ba cost, considering every part of Ba's game is better.

Boo hoo, Carroll manhandled Chelsea a bit when they'd given up playing, and a truly **** team in the Euro's, that doesn't make him a great player, or a good player, let alone worth 15mil and a big wage.

Footballs really becoming a rather limited contest between who has the richest sugar daddies :o

Yup, Chelsea's massive spending led them to a massive 6th last season ;)
Ultimately with only 11 on the pitch, there are only so many players the richest clubs can have, teams can be put together on the cheap that are just as good.

If City have Aguero, Tevez, and Balotelli, maybe RVP, that still leaves about 20 other fantastic strikers I can think of and another 50 incredibly good ones.

Either way, football has ALWAYS been dominated by the richest teams, always, and the only years other teams have been competitive 99% of the time its because they spent crazy for a couple years to do it(Blackburn, lazio).

From L'Equipe:

Not content with having already recruited the big brother, Chelsea is also on track to obtain the signature of Thorgan Hazard (19), the younger brother of Eden, transferred to the Blues early June for $ 40 million euros. Reportedly, the middle runner RC Lens, under contract until 2013, had even already announced its intention to its leaders to join his elder in London. Departure, including financial arrangements remain to be determined, however, but that would allow the club artesian bail out and validate the arrival of three recruits waiting (Valdivia, N'Diaye and Touzghar).
