Well I have a e350 htpc, and the mini itx case I have has room for a 3.5'' and a 2.5'' drive unit. I've been using an old maxtor diamond 10 300gb for storing movies. But the temps were getting crazy the hdd was hitting 52-55 degrees c.

I've been watching ssd's prices for quite a while but have been reluctant to try them out for fear of reliability. Anyway I bought my first ssd the other day it was a OCZ PTL1-25SAT3-128G. After installing it and turning ahci in the bios I then attempted to install windows, it detected 111gb so just as I was about to format it for windows to procees to install it froze up. Rebooted my htpc and the post screen froze upon detecting ide drives. I had a funny feeling the drive had died. After putting the drive in my i7 rig I confirmed the ssd had died after just 5 mins of running!!!!

I bought it from a local shop, so took took it back and exchanged it for a 120gb agility 3. Installed it and have it running on windows 7 and it all is rather nice.
The main thing is the temps inside the case are down by 10 degrees and the ssd runs real cool. Don't know how long it will last but its pretty quick and theres room for more in the case.

Good show.

In-case temps is something you don't maybe hear people comment on much. But yes, this is in-fact one reason why I've been replacing my mech. HD's in my case with SSD's. Two down, one to go.

Most of the kinks should have hopefully been ironed out of the SF-2281 controller by now. So with any luck, you should be fine. They come with a three year warranty anyway.

Any issues, then the OCZ WEB site / forums are VERY good:

Their SSD ABC Guide makes for interesting and enlightening reading, certainly dispells some of the urban myths that seem to have grown up around SSD's

Me too mate i put my OCZ Agility 3 in today and OMG jizz in my pants boots up so fast. Where has the welcome screen gone? Its like press del for bios ooooops too slow desktop is here. I wish id listened to these guys sooner i could have two or three by now.
