BBC Rogue Traders presenter guilty of £24k benefits fraud!

I think they should come down hard on people in the public eye doing this sort of thing just to make a statement, to often 'celebs' get some soft hand approach as a result of the fame and its just not sending the right message at all.

A BBC spokesperson said: "In light of the prosecution, Dan Penteado will not be returning to Rogue Traders."

He's lost his job then :p

They showed him turning up to court on my local news and funnily enough he turned up on the back of a motor bike occupying the position Allwright does. I dunno who was actually riding it at the front though, could it be Matt.

No, he doesn't have a licence. When Rogue Traders started, the producers wanted a motorbike but Matt Allwright didn't have a licence so they hired the criminal as a rider.

In that time he failed to tell Bournemouth Borough Council he had been paid more than £56,000 for his work on Rogue Traders from 2008 to 2011.

I thought he'd make more than that. Then again all he does is sit on a bike for a few mins.

Bet the BBC are now regretting not making him keeping his helmet on at all times like a Stig type of character. They probably paid him more given he had a speaking part too.

You just have to look at various cases. Take this for example. The Ready Steady Cook chef only got a caution for shop lifting. Not even a fine!!!

Problem with today's society is that people are so quick to pull out the psychological trauma card to get their jail free card.

So we should jail a man who clearly did this due to a mental health issue, and in all likelyness would not reoffend.

Would love to live in your Country :p

Well the sentencing in our courts does seem ridiculous.

Take that guy during the rioting who got a 6 month term for stealing a bottle of water. Just a bottle of water. Value? Probably 50p. (edit; was actually £3.50, but point still stands)

Obviously not a first offence then. Needs to be put into context.

Then someone who steals something of the value of £24,000, gets only three months?

Where is the scale here? The consistency? The judge you get on the day seems to be a complete lottery.

the bloke with the bottle of water was unfortuanate as he was essentially caught up in a sweep sentencing based on the circumstances (rioting) which set a precedent to deter future offenders.

this is a laughable scenario though under the circumstances of his job.

almost as good as the "police, camera, action" presenter done for speeding ;)

or was it "world's deadliest police chases" or something.
