Asus Maximus V Formula Preview/ Results/ everything Thread!!!

I know its not really relevent but I paid £239 for mine, which is basically what the person that imported it paid including postage.

I keep looking at the other Z77 boards and the closest rival is the Gigabyte Snipper which is £280ish so I am expecting the Formula to retail at about £250 personally.

Looks like you wer eon the money £249.99

Tell me, where in what I wrote did I say I was going to buy one? My job requires me to keep abreast of new kit, hence I still take an interest ... thats allowed right? Since when did you turn into the internet police?

Besides, I've hardly abandoned Asus when only a few ago I forked out on a RIVE, but waiting for a company from who you expect better sure tests your brand loyalty, and this is something I've been blogging heavily about lately.

I'm going to try a Gigabyte UP board for just sheer... please fully star out swear words!... and giggles as I have a brand new 3770k sitting in a box with nothing better to do and I don't see any point in being loyal to a particular brand when they can't launch anything in a timely manner.

You have got better!!! The best Z77 in there respective class for purpose intended.

Be careful getting off that high horse of yours. The drop might kill you. ;)

When I say 'expect better', I'm not talking about the products themselves as it's not in dispute. I'm talking about a company like Asus that needs to understand concepts like 'time to market' and not leaving customers wanting because they leave a massive gap in their product range. Thats what I mean by expecting better and I thought that was clear in my previous postings, but maybe there is something being lost in your translation of English, as I'm guessing it's not your first language. Apologies for not making it absolutely crystal clear for you!

loving the board so far

just installed and everything working great

i would also like to add the Asmedia sata ports DO NOT add an extra boot screen to your start up

infact the whole things boots so quick i dont really get the see the nice ROG logo

lol i know you guys probably think im mad but i really hate those extra boot screens you get with add-in controllers

:p haha good to know. Are the ASmedia ports any good? Better/faster than Marvell?

hmm not sure

i think from one of the videos done by JJ "the asus marketing specialist"

he said they opted for the asmedia over marvell due to it being faster

but that doesnt matter to me i will always use a sata 3g intel port over a 6g add-in port any day of the week even if the device itself is 6g

only downside is the asmedia ports seem to be stuck in IDE mode not AHCI with no way to change in the bios

ive got my optical drive in the asmedia port anyway

Just want to thank OC for being the only UK supplier to:

a) Have stock!
and
b) To ship it out to me in Switzerland.

I've been waiting for a long time for this to come out. Swissy component suppliers are useless when it comes to new releases.

Oh and first post.

Ex-pat here, big "enthusiast", currently running a Max 4 Extreme-Z, 2700k at 5ghz, 16gb Crucial Vengeance, and 2xgtx 580's. All in a Mountain Mods Ascension monster case. Everything watercooled with a dual loop system. I'll post some pics of it down the line.

Obviously the new Max 5 will be replacing the 4, and i've got 2x Palit 4gb 680's on the way to replace the 580's.

Hmmmmm thought I had already set up similar threads for each board!!!!!!!!!

I have all three!!!

To be perfectly honest, I think a thread started and contributed to by non-Asus reps isn't a bad idea in the interests of impartiality.

I'm more interested in the experiences of the guys that have actually purchased production boards as opposed to yourself with what might potentially be pre-production or review boards, for obvious reasons.

Not only that, but the reactions of someone that actually spent their own hard-earned money on a board maybe somewhat different from someone that didn't. The perception of value I expect to be somewhat different.

I'm sure everyone appreciates your assistance and enthusiasm in resolving any niggles but really you should just let everyone get on with it and provide their own unbiased feedback.
