*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Microscope and forensics kit at the ready.

Screen issue is noticeable instantly. You can push down the left side of the screen and see it physically move. Doesn't appear to be any dead pixels though. The screen is only raised a tiny bit.

My luck to receive one like this, but I'll say it's going to be a very widespread issue.

there is one sitting in my office...but not for me...was delivered few days ago..spoke to the chap to who it belongs to and asked him if I can take it and I will give him mine when it comes ( he is in Germany now and would need it for Friday in a week...) now...do I take it and give him mine..or shall I wait...will indians deliver mine or google by next week Friday...

Oh dear! Are you going to keep it?

I wouldn't, I read a tech report on this issue on xdadev and a bodge fix or just leaving loose can cause damage to the screen and its ability to display, it's quite a major problem not dodgy glue.

I saw a poll where roughly 30% of self selecting respondents reported a fault worse than minor with 1 dead pixel representing minor.

I bet Sammy and Apple are loving this.

I'd consider a dead pixel to be a pretty poor fault as well.

They've obviously thrown them together as quickly as possible and as cheaply as possible.

Lol, however I think toms analism is probably well placed in sending this one back!

I've got to agree on this one, I'm not OCD in the slightest but having a screen coming away would have me sending it back too.
That's really not acceptable for anyone.

Don't think you'd have to be OCD to send it back with this fault.

Sorry to hear that Tom, I'm sure you'll get sorted eventually.

Well just spoke to Currys, they are Minus 165 units so I can only opt for a refund. They have no idea when they will receive more units back in stock.

And yeah this is definitely not a me being anal issue, it isn't an acceptable fault.

Gutted, oh well. Guess it saves me £200. :/

Got mine directly from Google. 8GB model.

No issue what so ever, tried pressing on the left side of the screen but nothing happens, no dead pixels as of yet, so all is good :).

Maybe they sent bodged units to all Retailers and the likes in case they decided to ship them earlier than Google ;).

Agree strongly on both points, mine is in a transport dep about 8 miles away and has been since 4am, no doubt I'll wait till Monday to receive it, if the van can make it through the rain which is coming down mega hard here.

Agree with you on the dead pixels, I hate 'em!

*That's the thing though, mine feels really solid and a real quality bit of kit.

Grasping at straws (slim silver lining) but maybe those of us suffering from delayed orders will get a later production batch without these faults?....no?...:p

I pre-ordered on the 27th of June. I cancelled by email on the 28th as my spidey senses were tingling something chronic which, as it turns out, were spot on. I told them that I can not afford the device and requested that they send me an email confirming my cancellation. As I had received nothing back from them by the next day I emailed the same request to them. Having still heard nothing I did the same on the 5th of July and the 10th only to receive that email this morning, advising me that my nexus 7, which I had cancelled 4 times, would indeed be delivered to me and just for an extra giggle it would be......late!

They enrage me with a comedy wit that would be the envy of the Brothers Chuckle. 40 minutes on the phone was ample to induce mental entropy as they lack a decent classics mix to subdue you with. However, now that I had the chance to here the part of the holding message that states "you will be dealt with in the order that you bla bla bla....." I can say with pride, "I was there".

They have of course charged my card, so I am delighted to have been chosen to pay interest on an item I have cancelled four times and have also received the special bonus limited chance offer of the joy of incurring further charges when returning it to them. If I ran my business like this, which trains monkeys to mix ice cream with cheese, I would be fined and eventually be closed down or go bust in a sunny cheese splat, which is, coincidently, the name of our new range.

We are ruled by either crooks or morons that morph from one in to the other as profit dictates.

Edit: Although I'll most likely keep it :P
