*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Sorry about not posting pics of the fault but I got it sorted straight away.

I will never ever buy another product from Currys though, horrible customer service. The kids at the counter were a nightmare, real jobsworths.

Went to the purple shirts instead, awesome customer service, they found the fault straight away and refunded my account.

Thanks

... mouse button fatigue!

Mine is still being processed at the Yorkshire Distribution Centre: it would appear that it needs a lot of processing.

I am patiently waiting, just happy that I'm past the not knowing and the ever changing statement/stories about availability and associated technical faults.

Also good to see in the earlier case review that the LuvTab case works with the auto-screen on/off function... can anyone here confirm this? Does it need a magnet, as described in the report last week, or does it work if anything covers it?

Iv been reading about the screen bonding issues, and now iv got my Nexus 7 i cant stop checking it to see if its got the defect! Thanks Tom_D! Now i am paranoid like you! :p

Oh no, I just got an email saying the driver had attempted to make a del and no one answered, so I rang them and they say the attempt was at 3.12pm I explained that I was by the door at that time and was able to confirm I'd received no card, the driver reported leaving one.

I assured the cs guy that my location could be proven in a court of law by my phone and pc activity and I had indeed been in and no card or attempt to deliver had been received.

I mentioned my worry that I had been caught up in the Computer2000 addresses muck up, he denied knowledge of this but subsequently gave me the Computer2000 issues number which goes straight to GP cs, great hours on the phone with prats who think I'm lying and went out and did receive a card, damn damn damn:mad::mad::(:(

The address balls up is just nuts. My order shows as 'please call' as well so I'm expecting that its been caught up in the fail. :(

I've seen a photo of a messed up shipping label on another forum that backs up the story as well so it seems to be true.

I just spoke to another TNT guy on my mobile while keeping my GP call active just in case, luckily I got a very efficient free thinker from Newcastle, he understood my point of view and instantly accepted my honesty and admitted that there has been a massive addressing mess, he told me what the address really said unlike the previous guy who pretended that it was correct, there was a block of flats listed but luckily it wasn't delivered wrong.

I've put my Google call down and I'm relying on the guy I spoke to to either get it here later or tomorrow, pic id has to be shown and I prob won't be in tomorrow but gf will and she'll have my passport and cards, soooo fingers crossed.

So what are people doing about the screen problem??
I got mine this morning and I can see that the left hand edge of the screen is slightly raised, less than 1mm, and it does go down when pushed. Is it likely to get worse?

I don't want a refund and want one when I go on holiday next week, so how long can I wait before I get a replacement? I'm guessing that no retail stores will have them in stock for a while :(.

What should I do? Awaiting my refund from PCW, really don't want to risk getting another one. What's the next best tablet for £200?

You were just unlucky, get another and another..... or just save your money and see what comes in the Autumn.

But the screen being loose on the left side seems like a really common issue. For the brief period of using it I loved it, just don't want to go through all the hassle again.

Can you afford an iPad? If you have an issue with that, you can stand in the Apple store and hand pick a new one, they'll let you...

Maybe moving over to Apple would help cure your OCD a bit. :p

You should really just get another though.

Apples quality is not as good as it could be either. I've owned all 3 iPad variants and an iPhone 4 and I've had to take 3 of those back. Only the original iPad has been trouble free and is still going strong with it's 3rd owner.

As for my Nexus, so far so good with no issues I can see. The screen seems to fit properly and I can see no dead pixels.
