Thats why i hope he chooses Juventus in the end or another overseas team, if he does then i wish him all the luck...i just wone be wishing him that sort of luck if he goes to another EPL team.

What I always wonder about players when they claim to move for "more trophies" is what constitutes a trophy to these guys.

The Italian league is quite weak compared to the PL so a winners medal wouldn't be worth as much. At what point do you say, I would rather play better football in a better league than win a trophy in a weaker one.

The other side of that is of course that winning a medal with a team that is very likely to do it without you is not that glorious either. I honestly don't know where he will end up. Probably abroad but I think he should aim higher than Juventus.

Liverpool don't seem to be put off by this agreement stopping BR signing any Swansea players within the first 12 months.

I really like him. Reminiscent of Xavi in terms of movement and linking patterns of play but lacks the final pass that Xavi possesses. He's 22 years old and won't be 23 till March so hopefully that pass will come but certainly has lots of potential and he'll add a lot of energy to our midfield. I can (hope) see Adam leaving to making room for him.

lol @ the xavi comparison. i read about the allen rumour yesterday. didn't know rodgers had an agreement to not sign any swansea players for 12 months. what was with the sigurdsson interest then?

the arsenal board should have said RVP could name his price (well, within reason). he should be on the same as rooney (ok no one knows exactly what rooney is on but the £250k figure has been banded around) RVP is worth £250k p/w to arsenal, he's the reason they finished 3rd and he's their best chance of remaining competitive.

massive, massive loss to arsenal if he goes, especially considering some of the other wages they are flittering away. they have the money to invest, invest it. start with keeping RVP.

I think what you are suggesting would be madness. Hes 29, would have to sign a 2-3 year contract and if he gets injured again.....

Hes not as young as Rooney, only scored a few more and doesn't contribute enough to the team to put him on a par. Some of his goals last year were sublime but I think he is just a bit of a victim of circumstance right now.

Age, quality of team around him, injury record, the requirement of having quality backup that might not play. I don't know honestly. Wenger has yet again left it till the last minute to pin a players future down. Dangerous game.

the injury point is a valid one, there's no saying he wont go abroad and pull up the first day in training.

a 2-3 yr contract for someone like RVP is a sound move. any player runs the risk of getting injured.

Its a huge loss to us but as ive said and others have said, no player is bigger than the club. We had an atrocious start to last season but still managed to bag 3rd place, if you asked me around Dec time if we would get into the top 4, i would have said not a chance. But somehow with the loss of both Fabregas and Nasri we still managed to bag 3rd and of course RVP had a huge part to play in our finish to the season.

But paying him that much is silly, hes not young..if he was say 25-26 then id definitely say Arsenal break the bank for him but fact is that he isnt...hes 29 now and also pretty injury prone as shown for the past 8 yrs hes been at Arsenal....in all the time we have had him, hes given us one and half full injury free seasons. Hes spent more time being a crock than being on the field but we have finished in the top 4 without him as well. So like i said above, we will survive without him. We always have when players like Viera, Henry, Bergkamp etc etc have left us and im sure we will...we may not win anything but we will survive...fingers crossed:p

He hasnt in all honesty, RVP has never made it clear during this past season that he wanted to leave, well not that i know of. We asked him to sign a new contract at various points last season but he said he will wait till the end of the season, which we respected. Yes in some respects we have left it late but with Podolski and Giroud joining us next season...i think Wenger hasnt really. Of course im not saying both of them will score 30+ goals for us...too early to say but Wenger bought them to ease the scoring burden on RVP and maybe looking to the future ie RVP not signing a contract. that these 2 might very well be the replacements for RVP if he leaves.

Just read a quote that said Neil Lennon wants to bring in a centre-half to ensure he has enough cover - what for exactly Neil? I'm fairly sure you could win the league again with a bunch of 12 year old's in defence now the only other team in the league has done one! :p

Neil Lennon knows absolutely NOTHING about defenders :p

Got rid of Jos Hooiveld to us for practically nothing after slipping him down to 7th in the pecking order, despite him being a quality CB...

Looks like Roman did get FM in the steam sale recently and is going nuts with it :D

Its not Rodgers, its a contract between Liverpool and Swansea, sigurdsson was owned by hoffenheim.

You are saying that he should be on the same wages as Rooney and Co. and I am saying he isn't worth as much. He scored a couple more goals than Rooney and yet Rooney gives much more to the team on top of his goals. Are you saying that you would take RvP over Rooney?

There is always an injury risk but when a player has been injured more than he hasn't, you would be mad to pay him £200k + a week wages. Any player could end their career on the first day of training or on the way to the pitch but there is much more likelihood of RvP missing one or more of his last few seasons at the top than there is of a player like Ronaldo being a write off for the remainder of his contract.

Nathan Clyne is flying out to Geneva tonight to meet up with his teammates, his SOUTHAMPTON team mates!

Apparently we've beaten Newcastle, West Ham, Man City, Man Utd, Fulham, & Reading to his signature and sorted out an agreement with Palace over the fee.

If he's as good as he's rated to be it could go down as the next (on the list) of massively exciting signings for us (though both league games last year we stick Lambert on him which was a good way to neutralise him a bit but I'm still excited as neither Butterfield or Richardson would be all that good in the prem)

i don't know who i'd prefer over RVP or rooney, probably rooney. that's not the point though, it's what RVP means to arsenal. apparently the deal you've offered him is for 5 years.

adebayor to spurs isn't done, lokomotiv looking to buy him for more and match his £170k p/w wages.

modric to be sorted before the week is out? i really hope so.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric is reluctant to go on a pre-season tour with Spurs - with Real Madrid waiting in the wings to swoop for the player.According to Spanish sports newspaper AS, Modric has no desire to leave on the pre-season trip to the USA with the rest of the Spurs squad.

Andre Villas Boas' side depart for America on Saturday, and the Croatian midfielder is believed to want his future sorted out before the weekend.

AS reports that the main stumbling block to his transfer involves the differing valuations of the player by the respective parties. Madrid are thought to be tabling a €30m plus Ricardo Carvalho bid while Tottenham are thought to be holding out for closer to €45m.

Modric does have other suitors, including Chelsea and Manchester United, but AS reports that Spurs have increased his fee for English clubs.

For United and Chelsea, Modric's valuation rises to €55m, and neither Premier League club is believed to be willing to meet the fee, leaving Madrid as his most likely destination.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has already admitted that Modric can leave for the right price, and the Tottenham manager has drafted in Gylfi Sigurdsson as a replacement.

Modric is due back in London for his first pre-season training with Spurs tommorow, along with fellow Euro 2012 participant Rafael van der Vaart.

Spurs have also been linked with Porto star Joao Moutinho and Chelsea transfer target Oscar. Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen has already joined the club and Manchester City striker Emmanual Adebayor is thought to be on the verge of completing his switch.

Another very good signing. Could Richardson play a more advanced role down the right with Clyne in Defence?
Only reasoning behind this is Richardsons amount of assists last season and his passing abilities.
