Virgin Media Discussion Thread

everybody will need a superhub when upstream channel bonding goes live tbh. also when 120Mb goes live as i think it uses 7 or 8 channels

Bleh. The engineer who came (Was told there was a power level issue) lived close by and said that his Upload had not been changed either.

Upgrade it VM Damn it!

I noticed via steam download that Lincoln appears to have recieved its double speed up today. 30 -> 60. Still naff 3mbit up though :/ 5ms Ping to Coventry according to Speedtest.net which is better then the usual 15ms.

Hamg on, I must have it wrong, I've got this one:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Edit, is this one OK with 100MB?

I'm using this one on 100Mb right now - told them to keep the SH - I'll get it if I need it later. Runs fine for the time being.

I only really kept it as mine is stuck on the wall and its a faff to swap it for the new one when I don't need it. The connection ports on the SH are positioned by poooooofs!

Channel bonding wont be an issue. It's the fact it only has 4 downstream locks but who knows.

What are the real day-to-day implications of this on the 100Mb line? I have no idea what the problem is?

EDIT - If each channel can't handle 55Mb so isn't 4 more than enough?

Had the R36 update with high hopes.

Seems range has improved but gaming is still absolutely awful on wireless. Ping is constantly hopping, like literally all the time, between 30-150. It's like it's packet loss but every ping test I do gives 0% packet loss. Idk what to do :/ playing games is pretty much impossible on the superhub, don't really want to fork out for a separate router but I will if I have no choice.

Wont work as it wont be using mac address that belongs to the modem you are using now. each modem has its own mac address the only way would be to ring VM and tell them what you wish to do.

The new firmware should be available if you reboot ur router (leave off for 5 mins its been suggested around places)

I know I have it. What I said is what has happened even after the update. It's no use, the superhub is **** for gaming wirelessly.

Plugged in I get steady perfect pings. Wireless 1 metre away from the hub my ping is CONSTANTLY spiking. Literally it will not stop moving, from 30-150+ and it's so frustrating I cannot game without going on wired, I have a laptop, the hub is behind the telly. To plug it in I have to sit on a bean bag cramped up next to the telly cabinet with my mouse on the floor! Less than ideal it's ****ing ridiculous how can they send out a product which they know is absolutely dire at wireless, do they not test things before they actually send it out, or do they just go, oo it's glossy and black with blue LEDS who cares about the spec that will do because it looks nice. It's a disgrace.
