Did you ring them Tom_D? Or cancel just using G-Play?
I want to cancel my G-Play order to get them in from The Indian.
I had huge problems with this until i used BSplayer. Dice, Mobo, MX, Rock all played without sound.
I heard it on Reddit so take it with a pinch of salt, apparently it came from a Google CS Rep.
I got a faulty unit from Currys mate but they just completed my refund. Now I'm deciding if it's worth buying another.
Cheers
The golden rule for getting good units is to wait a few months and ensure all first batch issues are sorted (look at the HTC One X)..
Otherwise it's a risk.. I could be borderline OCD as well, I have to make a huge effort to accept less then perfect..
This is the daft thing with DSR, if you buy online you are covered no matter what for a return within 7 days even if it's not faulty, the logic being that you didn't get a chance to inspect it in-store..
But in-store, they won't let you take the units out the box and play with them unless you push it (and even then some refuse) as opening the box makes the next purchaser think it's second hand..
You cant win mate.. if you want a gadget early, you sometimes have to accept that it can be risky, especially when it's a product that's paired down cost wise, Apple can afford to put the effort in, they charge more and make more profit..
There's also very severe backlight bleed on some models. Damn your edit.

no wonder why its £200.
u get what u pay for
Thanks, that works fine. Audio still low for me (better with earphones) but got a nice boost with Music Volume EQ (free from google play).
Can't you just buy in store and check it there right after you hand over the cash, and exchange if there is a fault?

Only thing with that is on my unit I carefully checked it as soon as TNT dropped it off - mine was perfect. It took about 40 mins of Transformer movie watching before the heat seemed to help break the glue bond.
"Some models."
Not all.
of course "some" but it seems the build quality is bad?
