God knows what's going on with our transfers this season! Question for Arsenal fans: If you were offered something like 10mill + Berbatov would you go for it?

Me too. Can any team field a better front two than RvP/Rooney?!

I think it's quite unusual to see such an announcement on the website from Sir Alex himself. I think we're pretty serious.

If Man City badly want him and it comes down to money though, they'll get him I think.

I dunno Fergie was fairly open and honest about our pursuit of both Nasri and Sneijder last summer and I remember he confirmed the interest in Tevez once the tabloids got wind of it as well.

I'm not under any illusions that if we somehow manage to get RVP he would probably spend a lot of time on the injured list as that's just part of the package you get with him imo but the games he would play OMG  :D

EDIT: for the record though it's still Rooney > RVP ;) :p

berbatov at arsenal would be fantastic and i'm saying this as a spurs fan, it would be a joy to watch.

Dunno how I feel about the potential signing of Van Persie. Clearly he's an outstanding player, easily on the same level as Rooney and way ahead of the rest of our strikers, so in that area he can't do anything but improve us.

RvP and a CM, sure why not. RvP instead of finding someone suitable to stick in the middle, not so certain I'd prefer that. It's his age more than his unquestionable ability that's stopping me from thinking sign him at all costs.

Kevin Philips looked great for one season :p

He's 28 years old with a history of injury problems and has had one really good year. So basically you are buying 2012's Clive Allen :D

Okay joking aside I think anything over 12m with a big wage is too risky for his history on the back of one year to 18 months. I think he's not going to hit those heights again and a Hargreaves situation is far more likely. If he was 23/24 it would be worth it but he will be 29 at the start of the new season and too much money to throw away on a player with 18 months of consistency,

Thought Oscar looked great against Team GB tonight - more spanish in style than brazilian. Really hope Chelsea do sign him.

Sign RvP as striker then let Rooney go into the AMC position that none of the current Utd midfielders bar the semi-retired Scholes can do with any success :p

10 million is ridiculous though, Arsenal may as well just keep and play him for the season if they can't get over 15 million at least.

Oscar said he has passed a medical at Chelsea but has not yet signed a contract and will make his final decision after the Olympics.

Fingers crossed. :D

I've never heard of a player having a medical but not yet signing the contract. I'd assume he has actually signed but can't announce it until after the Olympics as Chelsea always want them to do interviews and photo shoots all day.

That's the only way it goes.

You think clubs offer contracts, see them signed, and only then put them through their paces?

True, that does seem to make more sense. What I mean is; i've never heard of a player having a medical and not signing. If you're having a medical it means terms have been agreed otherwise why waste the clubs time going through all that stuff?

Deals normally say "terms have been agreed and will be completed on the completion of a medical". Or something along those lines.

Saints have signed "Paulo Gazzaniga"

I was going to suggest that he was possibly the lovechild of an alcoholic midfield legend and a relative of Mario Balotelli, but then I'd probably have needed John Terry's lawyer.

He failed it, in the sense that Stoke deemed what they found to be too risky. There's basically no 'pass mark', per se... it's just what clubs are willing to accept. At the far end of the scale, there are thresholds at which insurance makes a signing a no-go, as they wouldn't be covered for whichever pre-existing condition rears its head (think Jimmy Bullard - iirc, Hull weren't covered against him getting a knee injury, as he had bad knee problems... he then got a serious knee injury in his first game... oops).

Yeah, what I meant was he had a medical after agreeing terms - the only reason he didn't sign was cause he didn't pass the medical for Stoke. So Oscar having a medical at Chelsea suggest he has alread agreed terms.

This is a done deal I think.

Oscar to Sturridge: "I've signed"

Lip readers confirm plz. :p

I can lip-read and can confirm that what Oscar actually said was:

"Hello Danny, I couldn't help but notice that once you get within 30 yards of goal you become greedier than Ronaldo (the real one) hugging a KFC bargain bucket under each arm. If we are to become colleagues then I expect you to at least raise your head and observe my ingenious forays into the opposition third such that you may distribute possession of the ball accordingly. Innit blud."

Sir Alex Ferguson said:
"We do have an issue in central midfield, there's no doubt about that, because getting a Scholes or a Carrick is very difficult these days," said Ferguson.

"We have the boy Nick Powell coming through, but he's young and although he's a very good talent he'll eventually be a midfield player.

Could be worse he could be denying we need anyone in there :p

Juventus have said they want Suarez to partner RvP, and will be bidding for the both of them.

If that doesn't put RvP off a move to Italy, I don't know what will...
