***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

I've noticed over the past 2 days I've started to get my wifi signal dropping out a lot on my S3. Basically, I turn the screen on to use the phone and it then pops up with the message 'connected to wifi network xxxxxxx'. Haven't installed anything significant in the past 2 days or made any changes on the phone but it's happened a noticeable amount of times already.

I assume it's set to 'Always On' in the wifi settings?

I think it flashed okay yeah. The phone restarted fine after the flash? To be honest the phones working fine? I'm just not understanding why root doesnt seem to be installed

That just means the restart command worked, to put your phone in recovery mode (turn off phone, then hold volume-up + home + power to boot - release power after one second). At least see if the recovery files went in.

Here is my odin screen cap - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/passe.png/

Although after pressing hold volume-up + home + power to boot i see this on the top of the screen: CWM-Based Recovery v5.5.0.4 :: CF-v1.5

I'm guessing looking at the latter part of the above line it didnt install?

Well CWM is in, easy from there.

Grab SuperSU > http://download.chainfire.eu/204/SuperSU/CWM-SuperSU-v0.94.zip

Put it on the internal SD card, anywhere will do, root/front easiest.

Boot in to CWM again, select "install zip from sdcard", "choose zip from internal sdcard" Select the CWM-SuperSU-v0.94.zip and install, then reboot.

Settings > Wifi > Advanced > Keep Wifi On During Sleep = Never

I have never touched that setting, in fact I don't even remember seeing it before. Anyway, I've now changed it to 'Always On'. :o

Thanks.

Hehe, no worries. I've found before that settings can magically change themselves for no apparent reason!

What's the best way to unlock a vodafone s3 to allow it to a o2 sim.

Do I root the phone and install a non branded rom, or will it still need unlocking to allow it to make calls with a o2 sim?

I've seen the unlocking app on the market, is that pretty safe and does it keep the phone unlocked after updating the software?

Not had much time to look into these, and need to decide if I want to buy the phone pretty quickly hence asking what is probably a question answered several times before.so thanks for any replies

What I basically did this morning was...

Install a rom (to get rid of all the bloatware and Orange rubbish)
Install Root
Install Voodoo Galaxy S III SIM Unlock

Then you basically just click unlock in the Voodoo Galaxy S III SIM Unlock and the phone will be open to all networks! Easy peasy!

Aren't Vodafone S3 unlocked? Mine is on Vodafone and unocked and the others I have seen are also unlocked.

No idea, I've been told the phone is locked to vodafone by the seller.

Thanks for the advise guy.

One more I forgot to ask, how does the warrenty work when buying a phone second hand? I guess the phone if from vodafone on contract, if that makes any difference.

Usually the warranty is with the original seller, well thats what ive been told in the past as the warranties arent transferable. If the phone is from vodafone then the original seller ie the contract holder would have to get it sorted for you should any problems arise.

Like i said this is what i have been told.

Well, my phone mic has now also packed in, so I can no longer use the phone for calls. And there was me thinking it was just the screen i'd have to get fixed... *weeps* :(
