Hi,

Well the CR2032 battery in our digital scales has died. I need a new one to measure some ingredients. Where do you think I'll be able to buy one instantly on a Sunday after most shops are closed?
These are a couple of smallish Co-Op's near us, and a small Tesco a bit further away. Do you think it's likely that any of these might reasonably stock them?
Before anyone suggests it, I have tried taking a battery out of an old motherboard, but it says low battery and switches straight off.

Thanks for any realistic help (yes, I know this is GD)

'digital scales' you say, for 'some ingrediants' what may these ingrediants be? do we mix them with tobacco for instance?

and i have an answer for you but i cant let you know as it would infringe forum rules (competitor)

Hot indian food shop, Meteor shop, Computer Planet, Penis Lad?

Any of those near you?

Ah right they close at 4 on a sunday don't they.

Most shops/supermarkets are now closed. It's after five on a Sunday. I know large supermarkes and some other electrical type shops sell them. But my question was where now.

yes, many of the shops you've alluded to are near me, but won't be open now on a Sunday.
I'll have a stroll to the local co-op as it's on the way to a Tesco Express.

As to what ingredients, it is related to the plant that soundood is implying actually yes, but it's hops, humulus lupulus. I'm making a beer.

Thanks anyway. I'll let you all know in a bit.

The Chinese takeaway down the street from me sells batteries and other odd bits - have done so for years. I asked the lady behind the counter why, and she says a surprising number of people buy the batteries, usually because the TV remote has run out or something similar. Fair enough! The Chinese has always been pragmatic like that :)

I know that everything's gone digital, but surely you still keep a pair of traditional kitchen scales, maybe in your cupboard under the stairs or something? That's where I keep manual stuff like whisk, pepper mill, camping gas burner, candles and old kitchen scales... all of those things for when the electrics goes out.

Right, malt's mashing, so I'm off on a quick tour of the towns supermarkets. Wish me luck.
And soundood, this is what I'm making.

Monserrat, hi, we've got traditional scales which was ok for the malt, but not accurate enough for 10-20g hops. You'll have to come around with Jane and Andy to try some of this beer at some point. Otherwise I'm sure we'll see you again in the Sun Inn at some point.

Our supermarkets (asda / tesco superstore) until 10/midnight as new sunday trading laws kicked off today iirc

There are no new Sunday Trading laws.

The existing Sunday trading laws in England and Wales have been suspended until the end of the Olympics and Paralympics.
