YouTube

I was in halls with the sister of that Syndicate guy. I only know that because she puts up links about him, every now and then.

She's fit.

Syndicate is a lucky dude, and he makes loads of money, spends so much on a machine which he plays minecraft and call of duty on, he is dumb and doesen't make the machine himself...
I dislike him and his rubbish videos where his commentary sucks.

most people on youtube only make a few quid per video. I've also heard it's about $1 per 1000 views. so 64p

Chances are your video will not be getting millions, maybe 2-5k views so £1.28 - £3.20 per video would be about right.

Do it because you like doing it, don't do it for the money.

I don't want massive sums of money, I am going to get a proper job and YouTube as my hobby :)

You're only 12 right?

If you are under 13 years of age, then please do not use the Service. There are lots of other great web sites for you. Talk to your parents about what sites are appropriate for you.

Lmao how insanely patronizing!

You dislike him, and he's rubbish in your opinion... but the fact is that he's achieved what you want... so perhaps learn from him, rather than being bitter :o.

I don't want that, I just want to make maybe £10 a month?

Being a Partner is different now, Youtube has changed the format. I am a partner but I don't have a banner and custom thumbnails. If you're monetised, you're a partner. I have asked youtube for banner etc and have had responses from explaining this.

Oh dude, you got 9 subs and 70 views. Little ways to go yet lol. I have over 1.2 million views and nearly 3500 subs but I still can't get custom banners etc.

Just asking, never said I was going to do it now, I have a brain that tells me that I have a bit of common sense,
Jeez

Then you're not a partner, your videos have simply been monetised.

People like Syndicate are part of gaming networks (such as Machinima).

These companies have agreements with the gaming publishers in which they are allowed to monetize gaming content on, say, Call of Duty, as Activision gets a shedload of essentially free advertising.

In other words - be partnered/a director of something like TGN, Machinima, Yeousch etc and you can earn a few $$$ from your videos. Be someone who regularly gets 200k+ views per video, and you could make a comfortable living from YouTube. Try to monetize videos when you are not part of one of these networks then, unless you have specific permission to do so from the developers/publishers themselves, your videos won't earn you any mulah.

Do note: Very few gaming youtubers earn anywhere near enough to make a living from it. People like Syndicate (he mentioned a while ago that he was well into the 50% tax band in terms of income) are few and far between.

Thanks for the help guys, might aswell make videos till I get to Machinima level :)

That's pretty hopeful (no offense). It takes months, years and even then, they would only pay you if it meant they will make money. If you enjoy it, sure, do it. If you're in it for the money, that's the wrong reason. There are better ways of making money.

Yep, I know that, but I mean, nothing else to do in my spare time (apart from reading and sports which I do)

There are far too many gaming videos on YouTube now as it is, the daily/weekly most viewed and top rated are just Minecraft and COD videos, I wish there was a way to filter past them.

While there is no doubt some people can make big bucks, it's a case of you needing to bring something that others don't to the table. A lot of people who just play games got quite lucky. I'd also add that even the likes of the Syndicate guy won't be able to carry on forever. The internet's short history has brought about many trends and changes, so you would hope he is working on his education to fall back on. There are only so many iJustines of this world.
