Want to know where all the money went?

Curse those rich people and their investments in industries that bring employment to thousands !

They should instead hand it over to governments who time and time again show us how well they handle the money they take off us !

The law doesn't necessarily say what is right and wrong, tax avoidance on a huge scale is not morally right in my book.

It says what you can and cannot legally do. We'e not talking about morals here. If I could find a way of not paying £1,000's in tax every month, I would.

Tax avoidance is just being selfish though and causes harm to others.
I think it really should be tackled, no reason why the rich should get away with paying pretty much no tax.

You do realise that the money isn't just sitting there in vast piles in a bank vault? It is used by the bank to invest in stocks / shares / bonds and as loans etc.,

They will give the depositors a certain percentage of their profit for investing it in their bank and the rest will be profit for the bank itself. Fairly simplistic description but that is how all banks work.

As long as the initial money is legally gained and isn't as a result of illegal tax evasion rather than legal tax reduction then there isn't anything wrong with it.

Tax avoidance is the duty of every person. Every person should pay what the law demands and not a penny more. The government is not entitled to a single penny from anyone, despite what they would have you think.

Thread just turned into a how right wing can you go contest.

So? If I wasn't PAYE and could save thousands a month, I would and I bet most others would too. Taking advantage of loop-holes if you can just makes sense. It's the governments job to close those holes down, until then of course people will exploit them.

Most of the rich, especially those on PAYE pay an enormous amount of tax.

All I'm getting from the article is that the way for a country to get a lot of money is to have super low taxes.

I've been saying this all along, it's all the fat cats()that have skimmed the money out of the economy. Can't really add much more as it's pretty obvious.

1. Formulate complex business plan
2. Find investors
3. Create production facilities
4. Hire workers, creating jobs
5. Successfully market product
6. SKIM MONEY OFF THE ECONOMY
7. Aggravate unemployed sociology graduates on OCUK

Is that how it works?

Of course they do, but some use loopholes to slip through massive amounts.

You need to bear in mind that the government have the make the UK an attractive proposition for very wealthy individuals. Being very hard on tax make living/working in this country much less attractive.
