YouTube

The gaming section on YouTube is so saturated, you really need something different, look at ksiolajidebt, the rather fast black man had seen a gap, there weren't any black people posting gaming videos taking the mick out of his own race and other races.

I personally don't like the idea of posting videos of myself online for everyone to see.

I'm not putting my face in them, wouldn't really like that, but voice overs are OK.

There are far too many gaming videos on YouTube now as it is, the daily/weekly most viewed and top rated are just Minecraft and COD videos, I wish there was a way to filter past them.

While there is no doubt some people can make big bucks, it's a case of you needing to bring something that others don't to the table. A lot of people who just play games got quite lucky. I'd also add that even the likes of the Syndicate guy won't be able to carry on forever. The internet's short history has brought about many trends and changes, so you would hope he is working on his education to fall back on. There are only so many iJustines of this world.

I agree. There was a time when gaming videos were very much a minority. There were quite a few Let's Players and gameplay commenters out there with a few thousand subs if they were lucky but none of what you really see these days. Then CoD 4 came along which was when the CoDtube wheel started rolling and then hit it's peak around the time MW2 came out. The popular CoD player then started playing Minecraft and that's when the flood on Minecraft videos came in. The same thing is currently happening with Day Z.

Oh, and I wish there was one less iJustine in this world .

Then you won't make much money.

Unfortunately to make money these days online you really have to sell yourself, unless you have a business or a website.

Why would I want to watch your gaming videos when there are plenty out there, I never used to be into these gaming videos and I'm still not into them. It's just Ksi that has made it entertaining for me.

Anyway good luck with it.

Then you're not a partner, your videos have simply been monetised.

Incorrect Sir. That was the point of my message, that they have changed what being a partner is - if you're monetised you're technically a partner, but not all partners get custom banners etc. I'd find the emails from youtube partner support if I could be bothered.

Indeed.

If you look at anyone who has a popular channel for games, you will see they present themselves and talk to camera. Their personality and interaction is what will make people actually want to watch a video where it is just them doing a voice over.

A channel of somebody just doing a voice over offers little interaction and is boring, so unlikely to gain you many regular viewers over somebody established, especially when as this thread demonstrates, many people are now trying to do it.

I think money has ruined youtube, at least if you go to see what's popular, when it was first around you would see mostly what naturally got to the top and was popular that day/week but since then people started gaining massive amounts of subscribers and then were able to profit off of it, this caused a lot of spam to appear from large channels and youtube celebrity trash ruining the quality and newness of the main page, very little interesting appears there now.

Trying to make big money from Youtube videos is already fail. You'll be lucky if you make a few quid. You either need to part of the 0.01% who genuinely become popular for whatever reason or have some contract deal to allow you to use others content.

I do agree that some who do make loads make you think as to why but then that's like everything in life. The group Machinima make me wonder though. They just seem to take other videos and then slap their logos all over it.
