FYI - banks are responsible for fraudulent transactions and not the customer. If someone steals money using your cards then the bank is the victim. That's why they're very careful with it, because they have to pay for it.
Pay for things with your credit card in the mean time, pay the balance off in full when you get your statement and you won't pay any interest anyway.
Finally, don't put a recurring transaction on a debit or credit card, it only leads to trouble in the long run. Insist on a Direct Debit, because you've much more protection that way.
