My current setup:

Intel core i7 CPU 950 @ 4GHz
Asus P6X58D-E Mobo
Corsair CX600 PSU
MSI Nvidia 580GTX
And its all crammed into a Xigmatek Asgard case which is causing a few heat issues. And I would like to add a few more things such as hdds, bigger psu, more RAM, and figured it was time for a bigger case.

So ive been looking at the Bitfenix Shinobi XL and really like the look of it, and wondered if It would be good with my system.

Thanks

cant recommend switch 810 enough, awesome case. never had any experience with the Bitfenix Shinobi XL though so cant give any input on that.

Ordered the shinobi xl should be here tommorow, now I need to just do the switch. Kinda excited but also a little nervous, never Had to switch the whole system before.

I strongly recommend, but then I'm not a fan of the Switch 810's looks, or the Elysiums (and the Elysium wouldn't fit on my desk).

Very nearly bought a Storm Stryker, kinda wish I had now, they're growing on me.

It's a nice case, (own one here). But the stock cooling isnt great tbh, due to the closed nature of the front panel and just having the mesh strips for air intake. Im running a setup pretty similair to the op's, cpu temps are a touch higher in the xl compared to my previous case. 80c compared to 73c max, ive swapped out the front 230mm fan for 2x 120's, and 2x 120mm exhausts in top. In the floor ive added a 120mm intake to help with gpu cooling, and bodge mounted a 120 in the 5.25 bays behind some lian li mesh bezels.

The front 230mm gets enough air IMO, it doesn't just have the mesh strips, it has the big vent underneath as well.

I've also added a 120mm in the 5.25" bays in a Lian Li HDD caddy.

Did you try with the 230mm in the front vs the 2x120mm? I have a sneaking suspicion that the 1x230mm would shift more air than 2x120mm...

At the time i first got the xl, i was running gtx 470's in sli. The big 230mm fan wasnt pushing enough air tbh. So i removed some of the hdd trays and fitted 2x silverstone air penetrator 120mm fans. Due to their focused airflow they are excellent as intakes.

After having seen your build Muel with the lian li caddy fitted, i ordered this.

Unfortunately it didnt fit, but i managed to find my lian li mesh bezels and luckily they fit like a glove. Installed 3 of them with a 120mm fan for extra intake. Im now seeing temps comparable to my old case.

The Shinobi XL is one of my favorite looking cases, and looks much better internally than the normal Shinobi. Nice clean looks and a optional side window too! Probably best used for watercooling though.

Strange, any idea why it didn't fit? I could ideally do with 1 more of those bezels really (only got 5), I want to move the caddy up one slot and mount another 120mm in the front, should fit with some ghetto zip tie mounting. But if I do that then the caddy won't be symmetrical, so I want another bezel first. :P

Was to tight to get the front panel back on. I tried fitting it with the panel off and on, but no joy. Stuck it into my A70F and it fits perfectly.

Ps, if you need a spare bezel mate, the one in the pic is surplus to my needs, i only ever need 3 due to having a fan controller and optical drive, and besides the A70F isnt being used. Ive used sewing elastic to mount the fan in the 5.25 bays on the xl, helps to do away with any vibrations.

I had a similar issue, I think the shoulder for optical bays is slightly too deep on the case, either that or the Lian Li shoulder is too big. If you look at your bezels, I bet they're very slightly bowed outwards in the center...

Cheers for the offer mate, I'll be in touch if I need it. Currently trying to decide whether to stick with the current setup, switch to all bezels, or spray the current setup white, or switch to bezels sprayed white. Choices choices. :P

Here's what it looks like now, what do you think? Also toying with the idea of spraying the top mesh black seeing as Bitfenix don't supply it anywhere.

Yep, i think your correct that it is the case edge, theres a tiny bow in the centre of the bezels. I actually like the black and white contrast you have on the front, though i think an all bezel finish would look nicer, (do away with the lian li logo), but keep them in black. Also black mesh on top would further add to the contrast effect. The xl is certainly a very pretty case to look at, i wish theyd get round to releasing the coloured mesh strips that are available for the shinobi mid tower.
